Bought it and Used it Last Night, October 7, 2007
If you are looking for an inexpensive electric razor that is going to give you a close shave and not give you a headache when trying to clean it up, this is your best option. Initially, I was going to go with the Norelco 7110 X, but you can only use that cordless, and I wanted to use something that I can use anytime that I want.
I tried using an electric razor several years ago (it was the kind with the two bars) and it was painful and left a lot of stubble, so I continued to use stick razors. Technology was grateful enough to bring us these little gems, so I finally bought one last night, because I was getting tired of buying new blades every couple of weeks.
The book clearly states that you need to give your hair and skin about 3 weeks to get used to the sensation of the electric razor, if you had been using a stick razor. Accordingly, I had to go over a couple of spots a few more times that I would have liked and it probably took me a bit longer to shave than it normally would, but I am glad that I made change. There are no nicks, cuts, or scratches on my face. And unlike my previous experience with an electric razor, I have absolutely no irritation, which I was really apprehensive about.
Clean-up was a snap. I pushed the button and the hair chamber was there. I used the included brush to give it a quick cleaning before running it under water, so that all of the excessive hair was removed.
Great, great, great purchase.

Good shave - won't turn on if unplugged, February 28, 2011
This review is from: RCH Reflex Action Razor (Electronics)
I've been shaving with Norelco shavers since the mid 1980's. I've owned the 7140 XL for several years. This one shaves at least as well as the 2 or 3 other various models I've used over nearly 30 years. The others held a charge for at least a week. When I try to use this one after having it unplugged for about 1 day, it won't turn on. It's still charged. It just won't turn on. Very inconvenient for me... Having spent a lot of money on it, I won't buy a new shaver. I just have to live with the annoyance. If you shave only at the sink, it's okay. Not great, but okay. If you rely on the battery, don't buy this shaver.

Good Quality for the Money, August 23, 2008
Compared to my older Norelco, the engine on this one sounded really weak. I thought it was because I didn't charge it before using for the first time. However, that's how it really is. The engine is weaker than before, but it does get the job done and well.
The best part I like about this model is being able to use it as a corded shaver. So when the battery runs out I can just plug it in and use it, unlike the other models I've used. It's much cheaper than my older model and the other Norelco models out there, but it works for me. It gets the job done and it's very easy to clean. It's light and great for traveling. For the cost the functionality is great. You get what you paid for.
