Installed in a 2011 Dodge Caravan

I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to put an above DVD player or the seats. I ultimately decided to go with the seats as it was WAY cheaper. I am glad I did.

-Install-- Install was very easy. I have yet to adjust these since I installed them 4 months ago. the only dumb thing is the AV cable they include with it..it is WAY TOO SHORT! Easily remedied though(see below)

-Clarity-- These look ok but definitely not superb. Very pixilated. I knew that when I bought it and the kids don't know any different.

-Dual players. It is SOOO nice to be able to play 2 different movies. I wouldn't have it any other way.
-We have both units on our front seats and our son in the back watches them just fine.
-Sound is sufficient and not too bothersome up front. They can get pretty loud if you need them to.

-Short av cord baffles me.easy fix
-Not being able to control them up front kind of stinks but if your kids are old enough, you get used to it.
-No remote controls are a bummer. I would have paid extra to have them.
-They do kind of get in the way when your kids get into the van but they are very durable and the kids learn.
-Our two year old sometimes likes to push the buttons on the front with her feet.... A different location would have been better.

I would definitely recommend this player to anyone.

For those who do not like the short AV cord...here is what you need to get the "trip" wire fixed. I could not find a long AV cable so this was my solution. Your second screen may dim a bit more due to the length but it's not bad at all. I never did compare the two but I do know one of my screens is a bit more dim.
Total cost- Approx. $8

First off, I really like these units and they play and look great just as long as you use the DVD player for each screen individually. The real disappointment comes into play when connecting the two units together to play the same video. The fact that the product uses analog connectivity and only comes with a 3 foot long AV cable is its downfall. Now, don't get me wrong, this may work out fine for you if you plan on attaching the screens on side by side headrests in the same row. But if you have a vehicle (such as a van), where there is the possiblity of someone tripping on this cable or, as in my particular install, you would like to have one screen in the middle row and the other in the rear row, then this is not even possible with this cable. The second and even more disppointing aspect of connecting the units is a result of this product relying on an analog connection. Because it is analog (and not digital), you will also need to accept picture degradation from the unit playing the DVD and second unit. While the picture quality isn't horrible, the picture quality difference between the player unit and receiver unit IS noticible (even with the 3 foot cable). And as you would imagine (with any analog connection), the longer the distance you send an analog signal the more the quality degrades. With this said, the solution which would make this product GREAT and more desireable would be if Philips redesigned this product to use HDMI connectivity between the screens.

My wife and I purchased this DVD player set a day before a 2 week vacation. We have a 1 year old and a 4-5 hour drive could have been a nightmare without this product!

We purchased this at Best Buy for $159.99 - a value for the quality in my opinion.

The set comes with the following: (1) Car charger that is a Y design which allows you to charge both head units while only consuming 1 car port; (1) A/V cable which allows you to set a second head unit to be a slave of the first - mirroring the display from the primary head unit; (2) AC/DC adapters for wall charging; (2) sets of mounting straps for attaching these to the back of your head rests; (2) DVD player head units

I really enjoy the ability to play a DVD in the car while only using 1 car port. It frees up the other for charging cameras or cell phones, etc. This unit does NOT have a remote, but you can set up the primary and secondary system using the included A/V cable and control the playback using the primary (in the front seat) while the secondary is in the back seat. It makes it easier if you only have 1 child and need to start/stop/pause/change DVDs/etc.

Absolutely! I spent a few hours researching different affordable options online and found that others in this price range have a lot of problems with one of the two head units going bad. The quality of these is top notch and I have had absolutely no issues with ours since we purchased it in the summer of 2012.

I believe that a lot of people have issues with head units not working properly because they are exposed to heat/humidity or extreme cold and then immediately powered on.

We were expecting a decent picture from these based on previous reviews, but I wasn't expecting the single 12V plug that powers both units, leaving me a spare outlet for GPS/cell phone use. Of course, if you're planning to use one player in vehicle A and the other in vehicle B, then this might be an unpleasant surprise. As reviewers on other sites have mentioned, the sound quality produced by the built-in speakers is not spectacular, but since the whole point of owning these units is to preserve mom and/or dad's sanity then you'll surely be adding two pairs of headphones/earbuds. We ordered two pairs of Panasonic RP-HT21 Lightweight Headphones with XBS Port to avoid the yuck factor of sharing earbuds and are well pleased with the combination. We can't provide any insight into the long term durability of this set, but we are very pleased so far.
