5.0 out of 5 stars Great little device
I needed a cheap little device to hook up a DVD player and laptop to an old TV. This device does it very nicely. Picture quality is great from the DVD player and my laptop.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple cheap solution to hooking up a DVD player to an old TV.

3.0 out of 5 stars Low price, but . . .
I do appreciate this box's functionality - I've got an old TV without composite video input (the red/yellow/white hookups); only a single coaxial input. This box let me hook up DVD player/XBox/whatever to the TV, and it worked flawlessly, but only for about three months. Now the connections within the unit itself are loose, and it's essentially useless. My feeling is...

This box let me hook up DVD player/XBox/whatever to the TV, and it worked flawlessly, but only for about three months. Now the connections within the unit itself are loose, and it's essentially useless. My feeling is that the reason this unit is so inexpensive is because it's shoddily manufactured. I'd shell out a little more for the Recoton version or maybe Radioshack's version. Just know that this will probably die before a year is up.

I just got this unit to replace a TERRIBLE Terk Mini Modulator (don't buy, don't buy, don't buy) and the Philips product works great. Picture and sound quality are much better than I expected. It's nice to find something with a price this low that works this well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, March 19, 2005
This review is from: Philips RF Modulator (PH61159) (Electronics)
I bought this after having a bad experience with the Terk mini Modulator, which had horrible audio and video quality. At first I blamed my cheap dvd player, but I decided to try the Philips RF Modulator on a whim. The video and audio are exceptionally sharp and clear! No blurring or awful humming noise! Such a relief...

1.0 out of 5 stars A headache from start to finish, January 20, 2007

The product worked, once. Then the permantently attached power cord stopped working. Phillips' customer support line was a nightmare to deal with, and I still haven't gotten my refund. If you are looking at cheap models, buy from a discount store (like Target) where you can return it easily if it doesn't work!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, February 18, 2005
This review is from: Philips RF Modulator (PH61159) (Electronics)
I purchased this RF modulator and its power supply has burned out after only 3 weeks of use! i don't use my TV frequently, maybe 1-2 times a week for 1-2 hours, so you would think it would have lasted a LITTLE longer than that! I would not recommend this product.

I was given a DVD player that was not compatible with my TV. Having done a bit of research on RF Modulators, I discovered that the average price was around 35.00. I choose the Philips because it was 8.95 and new. It was also the same brand as my TV. I plugged it in without directions and it works great! I have not had a problem with it at all. I would highly recommend this product, but am only using it for a DVD player so I don't know how it works with other devices.

Philips has an excellent product here , the installation took all of five minutes ahd the function was flawless.I used this on an old RCA TV so I could using a newer DVD player and everything worked just great. If you are looking for a bargain in an RF converter I recommend this to you its simple and inexpensive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice handy device for old TVs, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Philips RF Modulator (PH61159) (Electronics)
This is a nice handy device for old TVs. It really saves you a lot of money by not having to switch to a newer more expensive TV.
This product has a better 'brother' PH61156. PH61156 has multiple output ports and comes with 2 sets of cables. For about 8 dollars more, I would recommend PH61156 to PH61159.
