5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I bought this awesome cd player at [local store] for [$$$]. It was time for a new cd player as I gave my old philips to my nephew. I considered Sony's DE350 and after my experience with my first philips cd player I figured I'd get another one. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not Skip proof!!!!
I bought this for jogging. If you start the cd before you start jogging it MIGHT play the entire song before it skips. But, when the next song starts.....Forget it!
I even kind of tested it out before I bought it; I jumped up and down while it was playing and it did not skip, but I did not jump up and down for an entire song (ugh). Anyway, it is great for walking...

I bought this awesome cd player at [local store] for [$$$]. It was time for a new cd player as I gave my old philips to my nephew. I considered Sony's DE350 and after my experience with my first philips cd player I figured I'd get another one. Prior to buying this cd player i bought a Memorex MP3 cd player which skipped when not being shaken at all. I kept that for about a day before returning it and getting the Philips. As was my last one this cd player is solidly built and isn't at all heavy. The sound quality is excellent when hooked up to a home stereo. The headphones are OK.

Pros:
Skipfree
Long battery life (especially with Nickel metal hydride rechargables) With them you get around 30-35 hours
Extremely durable (nothing is chinchy)

Cons:
The headphones could be better
I reccomend purchasing some "behind the ear" headphones, I have the Philips "behind the ear" headphones that are foldable and they have amazingly good sound.

I use this CD player in the gym almost every day.....I've dropped it at least 5 times already and it still works like a champ. No skipping unless the batteries are very low. The only bummer is that it doesn't have an AM/FM radio. But I like the see-through design. If it had a radio, I'd give it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD Player I've Ever Owned, August 21, 2003

this is probably the best CD player i've ever owned in my life. when i got it, i thought it was okay. i wasn't really looking for a durable cd player; just something that would last me for a while. well, i was in for a surprise! i have dropped this cd player on concrete over 20 times, and nothing has happened to it! i even take it with me when i mow the lawn!! the hold feature helps when i'm on the lawn mower or in the car. also, the ESP system is WONDERFUL! even when riding around on a bumpy lawn mower, it never skips! AT ALL! probably the best feature is the fact that this is not a batter-guzzling machine. i don't have to change the batteries often, and that saves not only money, but time, and by that i mean because the battery compartment is inside the cd cover, which could be a pain to open or a plus because you won't accidentally open it. however you look at it. all in all, this is definately a 5-star cd player.

i have my philips cd player with me, during all 8 hours that i'm at work. it's pretty physical work, lifting, bending, etc, and my philips cd player has outlasted all the other brands out there. i've dropped it (several times) from several feet, which would have (and did) shattered the other players i've had. nothing has ever gone wrong with it yet, which left me very elated and content. you cannot go wrong with this player. i would give it 10 stars if i could.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, February 9, 2003

I recently purchased this CD player. So far, it has proved to be a good value, robust player. The sound is very good, and has general features (DBB, program, random play) along with remote control pad and belt clip, all useful. I have been unable to fault the play, even on extensive shaking. One possible flaw: The "Open" button is badly designed, it could be prone to accidental opening of the player during use. Also, the buttons on the side (volume, hold) are inconvenient. Apart from that, a great value first CD player.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improvements., December 9, 2002

Well, I picked up this CD player and tried it out once again. Amazingly, the quality was superb. The bass and everything was perfect. I especially love the volume control. It's a dial, so you can adjust it to exactly what you want. I have two complaints though. First of all, the CD player makes this weird static noise between each song. It's not the CD, because I've experimented this on other players. Second, the latch to open up the player is located in a place usually gripped or rubbed against. Which usually results to the interruption of music.

Overall: A good product. But if the two problems mentioned above annoys you, then I suggest getting another player.

Hope this helped!

I think it is great that it remembers where you stopped in your audio books relieving the task of trying to remember the track you are on.

This is a great cd player. Very good if you work out or jog (thats why its called jogproof). I have been using this player for a couple of months, and highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A winner, November 23, 2002

I purchased this based on other reviews and were they ever right. Compact and clearly well built. This is my first purchase of a portable CD player and I suspect it could be my last. The earphones aren't adjustable and are a bit bulky relative to the portability of the set and there is loss of sound when using the remote control but the player itself is the best I've seen (I HAVE used others).

Anyway, it is great for walking and moving around, but forget jogging. The remote is nice and the headphones are ok, the sound is good and the features are good. I would reccomend the CD player for anyone not utilizing it for running....mowing the grass- Great, walking- Great, bike riding- very good.
