Product Description

The Philips SRU9600/37 Prestigo allows you to enjoy the home entertainment experience with the ease of one remote. Features easy-to-read interactive LCD screen that guides you through the settings as well as the different devices. The touch-sensitive screen which displays only those keys needed to control a specific device eliminates the confusion of matching the right buttons to the right devices. Use rotary cursor control for fast menu navigation. Features activity based operations as opposed to component based operations. By pushing "watch a movie" remote turns on all devices needed to watch a movie (TV, DVD player and surround sound). Activity based operations eliminates confusion of pushing multiple buttons in the correct sequence. Keys and display automatically light up when picked up making it easy to use in the dark. Remote has capability of controlling up to 8 home entertainment devices. Using the universal IR code database system, remote can be programmed to control most brands of audio/video equipment without needing to learn individual signals. The setup wizard provides a step-by-step guide that tailors the device to perfectly match your home entertainment system. It learns what equipment you have, and how it is interconnected so that it can create its own macros that allow full control of your home entertainment system. Prestigo remote has learning functionality allowing it to learn device codes from the original remote, simply by pointing to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wished it worked as well as it looks., April 22, 2008

The remote looks very cool and was easy to set up, but it the end it went back. The scroll wheel is isn't that smooth and while clever is really annoying since you need to scroll through the different actions or devices. Direct access to functions would be easier and quicker. Also, touch screen would shut down quickly (probably to conserve batteries) but it became annoying since it was too quick. Decided to try the Harmony One.

2.0 out of 5 stars A versatile remote with poor controls, January 23, 2010

This is a great remote for macros, but offers very little when it comes to controlling individual devices. Most of the commands I would normally use are all there, but they must be accessed with the jog wheel. The jog wheel doesn't have easily distinguishable increments, so you can easily nudge it with your thumb and accidentally swap devices. To get to the command you want on the jog wheel you have to scroll too far many times. I was initially drawn to this remote because it looked great and didn't have that many buttons, but the software doesn't make up for the buttons that the remote doesn't have. I'll soon be replacing it.

2.0 out of 5 stars poor documentation and programing, May 24, 2008

Documentation very poor if you wish to program t.v. to be to channel 3 and turn on both tv and dvd player together in order to watch a dvd for example. Same limitation to watch cable or satellite. No response from Phillips support in spite of repeated request. I believe you first jog the dial to tv activity, then select channel 3, then jog the dial to dvd, turn on dvd. Not what a remote this expensive and supposedly programmable should be so limited.
