The remote looks very cool and was easy to set up, but it the end it went back. The scroll wheel is isn't that smooth and while clever is really annoying since you need to scroll through the different actions or devices. Direct access to functions would be easier and quicker. Also, touch screen would shut down quickly (probably to conserve batteries) but it became annoying since it was too quick. Decided to try the Harmony One.

A versatile remote with poor controls,

This is a great remote for macros, but offers very little when it comes to controlling individual devices. Most of the commands I would normally use are all there, but they must be accessed with the jog wheel. The jog wheel doesn't have easily distinguishable increments, so you can easily nudge it with your thumb and accidentally swap devices. To get to the command you want on the jog wheel you have to scroll too far many times. I was initially drawn to this remote because it looked great and didn't have that many buttons, but the software doesn't make up for the buttons that the remote doesn't have. I'll soon be replacing it.

poor documentation and programing,

Documentation very poor if you wish to program t.v. to be to channel 3 and turn on both tv and dvd player together in order to watch a dvd for example. Same limitation to watch cable or satellite. No response from Phillips support in spite of repeated request. I believe you first jog the dial to tv activity, then select channel 3, then jog the dial to dvd, turn on dvd. Not what a remote this expensive and supposedly programmable should be so limited.

This remote is the most user friendly remote I've encountered. Almost programs itself. Sleek, compatible, very affordable. VERY CUSTOMIZABLE. GREAT BUY.

Nightmare to program,

I bought this as a sale item to replace a harmony 550 that has suffered from too many drops onto a hardwood floor and now has a dodgy lcd screen.
The fact that I am still using the harmony after three months with the philips speaks volumes about how awkward the philips is to program and use. Whereas the harmony is a one touch everything on the philips seems to demand that everything be turned on separately, plus the default button selection is chronically poor, no page up or down on my cable box for example. Having to switch between devices using the jog wheel to alter volume whilst using the cable box is a pain, I believe there is a way to map controls from one thing to another but good luck trying to find it.

Awesome product,

Great product. Very easily programmable to everything in my entertainment room. Maintains all the functions of my satellite/DVR, stereo surround sound receiver, DVD player, DVD recorder, and television all in one single package! Very nice touch screen has proven to be indestructable after 6 months of use so far. Not too hard on the batteries either.

A little bit of older technology, but it is priced appropriately. The drawbacks are that it is somewhat of a battery hog, but it still gets pretty decent battery life. You do have to program it tactfully, as mentioned in other reviews, as the order that you program in is the order that your equipment will be displayed in the menu.edit: after several years of use. I contend that it was a good deal compared to other Universal Remotes, however the touch screen has become somewhat comburesome, it makes it harder to use. Since we've changed to DirectTV with a DVR not all the functions of the DVR are easily acessible so we end up using the DVR remote for the most part. Still use this remote to condense the DVD, TV, and Home Theater System into one remote. We've found the programmable functions to be very useful. So when we want to watch a DVD, we don't have to fumble around pushing multiple buttons. Just start the program and BAM! DVD ready to go.

Obsolete,

This remote contains an obsolete component list that cannot be updated. Moreover, at least the one I received refused to accept signals from my remotes in learning mode. It's not worth even Amazon's ultra-low price.

Goods received promptly and arrived in excellent condition using proper packaging to protect contents.
Setting up the unit was easy and I did not have to look at the manual even. Just follow the directions given on the unit when setting up the different remotes. The touchscreen was responsive and overall the feel and quality was excellent for this price range. Cons: The batteries drain fairly quickly so it may be better to use rechargeables. The lack of an aircon remote learning function is another slight but non-fatal 'flaw'. Philips Prestigo SRU9600 Universal Remote Control

Easily programs basic features of remotes, but advanced features have to be programed one at a time. Like the large touchscreen.
