5.0 out of 5 stars Good product
I've using it for several months now when I work out. I'm very pleased with it. My wife also has a Phillips MP3 player, different style. I like mine better because it has a lanyard and just pushing the sides of the screen is easier than the smaller control buttons she has on hers. They both sound good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad
The sound quality isn't too bad. The battery life is okay. The only problems I have had with the player is that it won't shut down correctly, and takes several tries before it goes off. The shuffle function is pretty horrible. I have 500+ songs on it and I hear the same song playing every 10 songs. If you aren't getting a deal on this one, I would advise not buying it.

I like mine better because it has a lanyard and just pushing the sides of the screen is easier than the smaller control buttons she has on hers. They both sound good.

I noticed lately I have purchased a lot of Phillips products, a small stereo, two matching 47' LCD TV's, and wired headphones for the TVs. I have been pleased with all of the products.

5.0 out of 5 stars worth it, July 24, 2010

This is the best mp3 player, for its size. The customer service, at Philips, are also the best at getting issues resolved, quickly; plus they are all super-nice, even when I sounded frustrated. A couple of times this mp3 player shut off for no obvious reason---and each time that I talked to someone, they knew exactly how to resolve these weird, little dilemmas. So now I know how to handle these situations. For all of the information that this mp3 player handles, including the awesome artist's graphics displayed during each song, it's actually surprising that a brief orientation on which buttons to push when it does shut off is all that's required to get on with life---letting in only the sounds that you want while keeping out the ones that you don't:)
Oh yeah, the Rhapsody 'drag-n-drop' software is well-suited to this mp3 player, which also syncs up to all the other tracks that you already have stored---excellent:)

4.0 out of 5 stars Use it everyday commuting to work, July 15, 2010
This review is from: Philips SA2925R/37 2 GB Flash Audio Video MP3 Player with Month of Rhapsody Music (Black) (Electronics)
I use this 2GB GoGear Spark everyday commuting to work. I bought one on sale a few months ago. For me this is the perfect budget player. It hangs around my neck in a lanyard. I like the clear face interface on this MP3 player. You just press on the top, bottom and sides of the screen to navigate the screen. This is great for me because I don't have to look at it to forward, pause or rewind my songs that I'm listening too. I also like that the album art displays on the small screen as well. You can created playlists on the go, and I have one just for my slow jams set up. The shuffle function is good, but I use it so much, I've noticed that there can be a sequence to how the songs of are shuffled. This also has a resume option so that the player can go back to the last song played if you turn off the player.

The Spark is also Audible compatible, so I use it for my audio books that I download from the Audible site. This is a small player w/ only 2GBs of memory, so I only load one book at a time.

This is not a full featured MP3 player. It is a small 2GB player and it will work for you if you just want something small and good to listen to. It's great for listening to on the go or when working out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product for running, February 28, 2010
This review is from: Philips SA2925R/37 2 GB Flash Audio Video MP3 Player with Month of Rhapsody Music (Black) (Electronics)
Purchased from an newish egg site for twenty. This product has more then surpassed my monies worth. Easy to put music files on. Has better FM reception then the sony running receiver my wife had. I have not tried to use any of the multiple other functions that are available. Just use it for running. I would recommend this product for that use.

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad...but it does like to hide my files, January 20, 2010
This review is from: Philips SA2925R/37 2 GB Flash Audio Video MP3 Player with Month of Rhapsody Music (Black) (Electronics)
This device seems easier to use than your average Ipod. I use it with the [...] download manager and many times when I try to download my daily Wall Street Journal file, the download manager will say that it has downloaded onto the device. Then, when I turn on the device, it's nowhere to be found. After several rounds of deleting the file and then adding it back, I finally find it. The same thing happens with mp3s. Also, sometimes I'll try to delete files, appear to succeed, and then when I boot up the device......they're still on it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks great, poor design, November 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Philips SA2925R/37 2 GB Flash Audio Video MP3 Player with Month of Rhapsody Music (Black) (Electronics)
This is a nice looking device with decent sound quality. However, this appears to be another example of brilliant design by engineers who never actually used their product. If they had, they'd know the frustration of having the device constantly pause or move forwards or backwards on the playlist. Why? Because of the not so clever control mechanism which can be activated by pressure when it's in your pocket. A simple dial would have been nice, but instead the face of the device can be pushed down on any edge to move around the playlist - whether you wanted to or not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent player with quirks, May 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Philips SA2925R/37 2 GB Flash Audio Video MP3 Player with Month of Rhapsody Music (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased this player to replace a Sansa Clip (who headphone jack had malfunctioned after 3 months) and am fairly satisfied with it. It plays music fine and the hardware itself hasn't failed after 9 months of heavy use (which is impressive after owning other cheap, flimsy mp3 players).

The four edges of the screen function as tactile buttons to navigate the user interface. The interface is not very intuitive but works fine. Having the album art displayed as the background isn't all that great on such a small, low-res screen.

It's very easy to accidentally press the face-buttons, especially if the unit is in your pocket. Thankfully, there is a "Hold" button that still allows the volume buttons to be used.

The player is kinda quirky when you connect it to your PC, sometimes it needs to be reconnected a couple times to work. It has also frozen a couple times on me, which requires you to download the "repair" program from Philips but that has always fixed it (be careful to download the right program for your exact model).

The battery is decent, maybe 8-10 hours of music right after a charge. However, the battery seems to drain to zero even when turned off after ~4 days.

As far as sound quality, it seems comparable to any other mp3 player I've tried.

I would recommend this mp3 player over other cheap players solely based on the fact that it hasn't broken in 3 months like other Sansas I've used.

4.0 out of 5 stars the cutest little thing, November 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Philips SA2925R/37 2 GB Flash Audio Video MP3 Player with Month of Rhapsody Music (Black) (Electronics)
the battery life is impressive.

i wish it would go faster scrolling up and down songs.

seems to have better-than-average FM reception.

i have long since replaced the earbuds with passively noise-reducing ones, and those work better than the earbuds that came with it. (caveat: i don't like that many earbuds anyway; the cheap noise-reducing ones that i get are my favorites.)

from time to time, it makes scratching sounds between songs (it loads more slowly, perhaps?) but lasts only for a moment, so that's not terribly annoying.

3.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good..., September 23, 2009

Had these for about a month.

Pros:
- It's small: 1-3/4" square.

Cons:
- The Fast-forward/reverse buttons. I use it for language learning so I like to rewind frequently. If you hold the button down, it starts out slow, which is good. But, after a few seconds, it starts to speed up. A few seconds more... WHAM! It's too far back. !@#$*! Now I gotta go forward or accept it where it is. Wasted time. Frustrating.

Sounds: The earphones are your basic stuff. If you press them into your ears you get better sounds. I had Sennheisers noise cancellations headphones in the past. They worked great, so I ordered them again as replacements.
