First of all, the description says that this MP3 player is "Compatible with Windows 2000, ME, and XP operating systems". Well, yes it is, but the included software is not. You don't need Windows XP & Media Player 10 to drop files into it for playback. However, the firmware updating software requires Windows XP, and the SA41xx series was designed to interface with Media Player 10 to provide more functionality in managing the music files you load into it.

Quality of sound is surprisingly excellent for such a small player, but don't use the included earbuds. Get your own.

If you buy this refurbished like I did, you may not get an Owners Manual or the Quick Start Guide. So to figure this thing out, look on the software installation disk for a file called "IFU_ENG.pdf". Print it out. It's the owners manual. You WILL need it. However, the instructions are based upon Media Player 10, which is no longer the most current Windows media player.

I like the idea that the battery is quickly and easily replaceable, instead of having to take time to charge an internal battery you cannot access, as is the case for other MP3 players.

This is a nice little audio player if you want something simple and only need a few features.

I got this same mp3 player from wal-mart like a year ago and it still works and looks new. It is highly recommended to anyone who isn't stupid and doesn't want to get ripped off by apple's cruddy ipod shuffle. Same space as a shuffle, has a led, equalizer, and looks cool. The only thing is that the description is wrong, it does need a cable to connect to your usb but it works and syncs to Windows Media Player. I only wish it had a drive letter so I could sync it using some program I gave up on a while ago that let you sync non-ipods to itunes(the only decent apple program ever) but Windows Media Player works fine anyways. BUY THIS, IT'S A GREAT VALUE!

Verified Purchase
I purchased this item for my sister who has Down Syndrom. It replaced an identical one that she had for a few years but the plastic on/off button fell off. This is a simple operating player that she can use with ease. Replacing the AAA batteries is not a problem for her either...I had tried another Phillips unit but that one had to be charged with a usb port so not good for her. She loves to listen to music and this is a perfect little player for her. However,I purchsed the stated 'Navy Blue' one but what came was a different color..more like black...not that that has any bearing on how it works though.

I bought this for my 8 year old brother. Its been a month and he has not destroyed it yet. He really wanted an Ipod, but I did not want to spend the money on a brand name. The headphones are better quality than my Ipod headphones and it is very easy to use. He takes it on the bus and with him everywhere. I definitely recommend this product for kids or someone who just wants a basic mp3 player.
