Best Multi Bluetooth Headset!,

This review is from: Philips SHB6100 - Headset ( behind-the-neck ) - wireless - Bluetooth (Electronics)
I have tried many MP3 Bluetooth Headsets, including the HT820 by Motorola, the quality of sound and easy switching modes this one offers is not to compare and the price is great!

Good sound quality, but a bit uncomfortable after few hours of wearing(I have big head..:-)), also difficult to tell when "on", while turning on and when wearing headset ( when turning off there is beep confirming). Another thing is that if playing loud, music can be heard by others ( but this is the normal for that sort of headset, I think).

Great and inexpensive bluetooth headphone!,

I bought this product on Ebay and for me this product is awesome! Paired instantly on my TV Phone. I can switch between listening to music and making calls. Sound is very clear and no drop outs. Range is also good! Battery life is just two days considering that I use it excessively. Charging time is about 4 hours.
I also paired the headphone with my PC that has a USB bluetooth dongle and it's just amazing listening to mp3 and watching videos without the wires! To sum up, I love this headphone and will probably use it for a very long time.

Good but maybe some issues for Vista users,

I read the reviews that some people couldn't use this with Vista and I was about to give up on it too. If anyone is still having problems, try this.
I bought a mini Bluetooth Dongle adapter it was linked as commonly bought with this item. Make sure it is the mini as that the normal sized did not come with the small BlueSoleil software disc. I had contacted Phillips directly and they could not help me get this running, claiming Vista is not bluetooth enabled and needs "stacks". Point is, with this little disc and adapter that was like $3.00 this product works fine with my Vista now. The sound and mic quality are great, but if I turn it up real loud the person on the other side can start to hear themselves (the mic is close to the earphone). After wearing it for 4 hours or so it may get a little uncomfortable, but nothing unbearable. As a gamer I like this headset. 1 Drawback is that it sometimes disconnects when I get about 20 feet away, but NOT always. Sometimes I get to 30 ft and it works fine. But because of the Vista thing, I have to exit out of the BlueSoleil software and start it up again (30 sec) to get it working again. The battery life seems good on it, If I had to estimate, I'd say 6 hours. Overall, for the price, I think this is a great buy.

This item was purchased for a dual purpose to work with both my computer and cell phone simultaneously. The product works great with the cell phone, yet the required software to connect with a computer is not included. The headset had great quality and a significant amount of bass for this type of product. It would work well for listening to music or video...
I tested the headset with a Bluetooth-enabled mp3 player and cell phone. The audio switch from music to phone call was seamless. The voice quality was well above average. My only complaint was the intentional lack of computer software.

I had researched various bluetooth stereo headsets for a few months before settling on this one. Other sets I considered were the Moto Rokr and the Jabra set, but I eventually shyed away due to reported problems with sweat, poor connections, and bulkiness. I am very happy with my purchase of the Philips SHB6100. The headphones work with both my cell phone and my desktop computer (through a USB dongle, on WinXP Pro).
PHONE USAGE: The sound quality is decent when streaming music from my phone. Treble could use a boost, and bass is somewhat muddy, but they sound more than adequate for listening on the go. It automatically pauses the music and starts beeping if you get a call or a text message. You can answer phone calls, pause and play music, skip/seek tracks, and control the volume directly from the headset. In fact, it supports voice commands, but I don't have any programmed into my phone yet. COMPUTER USAGE: The music quality sounds way better through a computer than through my phone (this could be due to my specific phone, the LG EnV2). However, you'll need to crank up the source volume to make them sound right. If you adjust the EQ a little bit, you can really bring out the clarity and detail of these cans. CONNECTION: Easy pairing process makes this headset a breeze to use with any bluetooth device. However, I have a problem with my cell phone when I want to reuse a connection. When I turn on the headset and it auto-pairs to my phone, it only connects as a handsfree headset (not as stereo headphones). If I play music in this paired mode, it sounds terrible, and plays as a weak mono signal. So every time I want to listen to music through these bad boys, I gotta repair the phone. Really annoying, but it's not TOO bad considering how easy the pairing process is. No problems of this type occur with my computer. Signal reception is really good. When I'm at the gym, I can walk ~30 feet away from my phone before the signal starts cutting out. In my apartment, I can walk out to the living room and still get a pretty good connection (only intermittent skips). That's about ~25 feet away, through 2 walls. COMFORT: Hmm, I'm really going to have to give it a 3/5 for this. They aren't too bad... the clamping strength is moderate and the foam padding over the drivers are quite soft. However, I don't really like the feeling of the plastic rings that loop over your ear. You can change it to S,M, or L width, but none of them seem to fit that well. The behind-the-head design is quite nice, and surprisingly, works pretty well when lying down on a bench (just tuck it behind your neck). My main issues with this headphone occur when used with my cell phone, so your mileage may vary. I haven't tried it with anybody else's phone, but I'm sure a good smartphone won't have the same problems I have. For those of you worried about durability... I've had these since the beginning of June and use them 3 times a week at the gym. So far, I've had no issues with the sweat. Hope this review helps!!

Bad fit,

The sound quality was very good and people said I sounded good when I talked through the integrated microphone, but the "behind-the-neck" plastic piece stuck out too far (I am a small person) and hit the collar of my shirts or hit my shoulder when I turned my head. In addition the headphones are heavy and after 5 minutes the top rubber earpiece began to dig into the top of my ear because of the weight of the headset. Uncomfortable and strange fit. These might fit someone with a bigger neck and head.

These headphones have excellent sound quality (in my opinion) with deep, rich, bass and full-spectrum stereo dynamics. They DO NOT come with a bluetooth adapter/transmitter for your blue tooth device. A similar product packaging includes the same model headphones and an adapter. That model is mislabeled as this model by an online reviewer from the UK and shows it packaged with such. The seller was very courteous and quick to reply to my inquiry regarding this. These come sans adapter.
PROs: Excellent sound, comfort, battery life, and overall value. Cons: If you answer a bluetooth telephone (with [at least] my pair/phone) it creates an annoying echo effect on the other end of the connection. It still works though and that allows me to listen to my music as loudly as I please and not miss a call. I have a Samsung Blackjack II smartphone with otherwise decent sound. Shipment was very fast. Seller was quite helpful and prompt in answering the question that I had. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND SELLER!

I purchased these mostly to listen to music on my phone. They took a little getting used to as the ear pads are more full and soft than others I have used. One thing not mentioned in the description is that the ear loops are adjustable. They are very comfortable and extremely light. I was pleasantly surprised when I used them to make a phone call. The person on the other end didn't even know I was using a headset. Overall This would be a wise investment for any Bluetooth user.

I have bought more than a few Bluetooth headphone, and have found nothing better. Range is good, sound quality is fantastic, and in combination with the price this, this is a must have product. That being said if you are planning to use these to exercise with, you may want to be careful. I use a different product to exercise with (jaybird), I am not sure if the Philips would hold up under these conditions.
The Philips has by far the best sound quality, and range. It is the perfect laptop headphones. |
