Good sound and longevity,
This review is from: Philips SHP2500/37 Full Size Headphone with Volume Control (Electronics)
I owned/used/abused the previous model for more than 6 years and man did it take a beating. It worked flawlessly until the little volume controller broke open and one of the wires broke off. I decided not to bother trying to fix it so i found this set and purchased it. Aside from looking cool and good price, they looked even sturdier than the last model headphones (including the volume controller). They fit comfortably, cover your ears completely and are not too tight. Good, full, clean sound (better if you can tweak it), and very loud. I Use them primarily for games, as you can hear the smallest of sounds. Good for watching TV privately if you really need to (although the cord gets in the way). Owned them for 1-1/2 years so far and not a scratch. For the price its a must have.

I am very happy with these headphones. I use them primarily for watching TV, and the long cord and inline volume control makes them well-suited for the job. They are also very comfortable and the audio quality is good.
The only downside is that the included 1/4" adapter was flaky and made the audio crackle, but I already had one. I would still say that for the price there is none better, so these headphones get 5 stars. PS. Like other reviews said, the description is wrong. It does not come with an extension cord, but just one long one.

This product is exactly as described, but more than that, it is PERFECT for what we needed. It is lightweight and comfortable to wear, and the volume control works to solve our particular problem.

Just Make Sure You Don't Lose Your Receipt,

Since most of the reviews on these have been positive, might as well drop my very quick, negative review into the mix. Purchased these for a cheap headphone to use with the television. Not expecting anything stellar or amazing--and I won't even start comparing these to my audiophile quality cans. Actually they don't even sound all that bad, fair bass, good mids, highs are on the bright side; good sound in general. The cord is a long twenty feet, and they are comfortable. Volume control is a nice add-on. Cheap too, you can go to your local Target and only have to drop $20 for these things. The only annoyance was that the headband adjuster moved around all the time. Otherwise, these headphones were great and served a purpose. But after some time I realized why they are so cheap; because they ARE cheap. Two weeks into purchase and the right channel dies. No explanation--I certainly wasn't giving them a hard time. Returned them and got a new pair. Two, maybe three weeks later, and the right channel dies. Again, no idea why these Philips headphones keep giving out on the right side, but two out of two pairs did this in about the same amount of time. I guess I am just getting unlucky pairs, since a lot of people like these, but I am going to stay away from them. Too bad I lost the receipt.

Nice headphones for a bargain price. Good fit with no cabbage ear after a couple of hours - sound is clear and crisp. Bought these to keep my husband from driving me crazy with the sports at full volume on the television. Worked like a charm!

I didn't realize that the cord on these headphones was so long-at least 20 feet, while the volume control is within 3 feet from the headset. Very cool. Good base, clear highends, they sound great-especially for the low price. Terrific buy.

This is a great pair of headphones, I really only have one complaint. It says in the description that there is 4 ft of cord and a 6 ft extension but this is not true, it is just 10 ft of cord which makes it impossible to take with you anywhere but still great headphones and I use them all the time on my computer. The volume control is also awesome so if you have a full screen program you don't have to minimize it.

A Winner !,

The Philips SHP2500 Headphones sound great...period. The $20.00 price tag make them even more of a stand-out. When listening to familiar cd's, right away I noticed rich deep base that wasn't there with my mini phones. And after about three hours of listening over several nights, the highs became noticeably extended, must be due to a break-in period.
I wore these full size phones for about an hour per sitting and never had the urge to take them off to give my ears a rest, they are very comfortable; the earshells toggle up/down to match individual head shape, and the fabric covered earpads can rotate to match ear angle. Although these are comfortable to the ear area, it would be an improvement if they, or you added some padding to the plastic part that contacts the top of your head. Assuming you have the volume down low enough, you can still hear the phone ringing or the door bell. The line cord volume control is convenient. I gifted a pair of these to a rap music lover and the observation made was that the maxumum volume isn't as loud as the phones these replaced. I noticed the same difference between these and my mini phones. This is a good thing for anyone who cares about long term hearing loss due to excessively loud listening levels. I was researching expensive earbuds, now I can spend the savings on something else. Thanks Philips.

Good headphones for the price,

The sound quality for the headphones are good for the price. They don't block noise too well, but what do you expect they are twenty dollar headphones. Great buy!
