Great Headphones!,

I have been searching for perfect headphones to use with my Zune, and I have already spent a lot of money and time trying to find them. Earbud headphones don't work well for me as they are a one-size fits all, and my ears are a little small. I didn't want headband-type or bulky earphones either. I like Sony's Fontopia headphones, because they fit well inside my ear, but they wouldn't always work well when I work out. (Same with my Bose headphones). The Phillips have wonderful sound, and I never have to worry about them falling out of my ears with the ear hook. I am extremely happy with these. My ears don't hurt when I use these and they stay put!

Comfortable and Secure with Great Sound,
By
This review is from: Philips SHS8000 Premium Sound Earhook Headphones (Electronics)
The SHS8000 headphones are by far the most comfortable I've worn. The flexible earpieces fit perfectly and do a decent job of blocking out ambient noise. They aren't noise-cancelling but they reduced the airplane noise to a point that I didn't notice it with the volume at a low level. The flexible hook keeps these headphones very securely in your ear and the sound is excellent. After wearing these through a five hour flight I was completely blown away by how comfortable they really are. With stock iPod headphones my ears hurt after a couple hours... five hours into wearing these they still felt perfectly comfortable.

Best earphones I've ever bought,

If you're in the market for good, comfortable earphones with great sound, I can't recommend these enough. They are comfortable even over long periods of time, they are stylish, and they have great clarity, loudness, and bass response. When I first got them, my immediate reaction was, "Oh no, these sound awful." But a friend of mine promptly told me the correct way to use them. He said, "Reach over the top of your head with your right hand, grab hold of your left ear, pull it up and stuff the headphone in, then repeat for the other ear." If you can create a good seal in your ear canal using that method, these headphones produce lush sound while simultaneously blocking outside noise. I'd go so far as to say they're good noise-blockers even if you're not listening to anything. Also, they come with three sizes of soft buds to suit your ear canal. I have a pretty narrow ear canal so I use the smallest size; this is such a relief, as virtually every earbud-style phones I've tried constantly have easily fallen out or started to hurt after a while. Not these. If I lost them or they were stolen, I'd promptly buy them again.

Decent sound, not a great fit,

I purchased these for running with my iPod. The sound was an immediate improvement but the right earpiece would never fit quite right and I would have to fidget with both during my runs. Annoying but livable until the plastic cover popped off the right earpiece and lodged in my ear mid-run. Ruined that run and scared hell out of me. I bit the bullet and ponied up the dough for a set of Sennheiser PMX70s. I know Senn makes good stuff and no more in the ear canal items for me.

Excellent but NOT the best!,

I want to start saying I am not audiophile or highfalutin member of society. I am an average "Joe". This will be an easy simple review of the earbuds as I see them.If you are upgrading from the crap that Apple sends you with your Ipod, you will be very happy with these buds. The sound is much clearer, louder, crisper and overall better. If you are coming down from a $300 pair of buds you will not be impressed at all. These are a GREAT $30 PAIR OF BUDS. These are the replacement for my older Sony MDR-J10's. The Sony's hurt my ears after about 15-20 minutes of use. This is something I thought I could live with but quickly learned I could not. I workout at a moderate pace and like my music a little louder than many and my volume settings are below where the Sony's were. I REALLY like the fact that these are hangers, meaning they hang from your ears. As I stated above I workout and these always stay in place. I also LOVE the fact that they fit into your ear canals. This provides a bit of noise cancellation. I have used them for hours at a time and have had no discomfort. I have never fallen asleep in them but then again I don't think that's what they were designed for. I really have no complaints about them as they do what I need them to do and that's stay in my ears when I workout and sound good. Many people complain about the treble, bass etc. I find that playing around with the EQ in my Ipod takes care of most of the issues people have, aferall that's why it's there. Nothing is perfect for everyone but these are GREAT all around. Thank You!! I hope this helps some people out there trying to make a decision.

The best headphones i've ever bought,
By
This review is from: Philips SHS8000 Premium Sound Earhook Headphones (Electronics)
These headphones are perfect mixture of sound and comfort. I owned Skull Candy ear buds before these and liked the sound and ear bud style but they would fall out during workouts and would eventually make my inner ear ache. The Phillips design combines the ear bud and the clip-on style headphone which make them easier to keep in, while still blocking out your surrounding sounds. I love these headphones, they cannot be pulled out and you can barely notice that the wrap around piece is even there. If you like ear bud sound, but have trouble keeping them in the Phillips shs8000 headphones are the ones for you!! Look no further!! The best headphones I've ever bought!!!

Good Product BUT....,
This review is from: Philips SHS8000 Premium Sound Earhook Headphones (Electronics)
I actually really enjoyed using these headphones. After I lost my Shure E3C's, I wanted to find a cheap comparable replacement. The sound quality was not the same, and the isolation wasn't comparable. I couldn't hear a single outside word on my Shures, but these weren't as sound isolating. I really liked these headphones but I kept on losing the cap sizes. The little plastic pieces that go on the headphones, make or break the comfort level. If I had pulled the headphones out of my pocket, I would have to be so careful about losing the cap sizes. I think this is a great product, but something needs to be done about the damn pieces.

My favorite earphones ever....even for my small ears,

Very comfortable and excellent sound. Did I say comfortable? And they fit snugly and secure, don't feel like they're gonna fall out when I move around, so would be great for running also. I'm using the smallest ear thing to go in your ear, and the nice fit seems to improve the bass response too. These are the best since I have a small ear and most ear buds hurt my ears. And I don't have to listen to music as loud, since they block out more of the ambient (outside) noise, so I feel like I'm even preserving my hearing in the long run!

I wanted a pair of headphones that blocked outside noise and were firm enough to stay in my ears while running. These definitely do the job. They are extremely comfortable to wear, you can barely feel them once they are in, and they stay in place firmly. They are easy to fit to your ears because they come with 3 sets of ear buds. The sound isn't the best, but it's pretty great. I have a pair of JVC ear buds which are fantastic - the sound from them is incredible, but they aren't good to be used while working out. I love these headphones and would recommend them to anyone who works out!

I like it, but....,

I was very excited to get this ear hook headphones. My son uses these on his Nano and brags about them. They felt really good when I tried his on. I hate the way most ear plugs kinda dangle out of your ear like they'll fall out at any time. The three sizes of plugs that are interchangeable with the phones are sweet. My use for these are either gaming or movies on my PC or Laptop. Setting them up on my PC for gaming was great because I realised I could get positional sound if I set the sound for 5:1 and they worked good. I can only imagine the $400 shureE500PTH ear plug set would work better. I am not that rich; that price is a real choker. PROS: very comfortable and quite secure; no hanging feeling like you would get from so many other sets. The sound was good as long as they are crammed, kinda screwed into the ear canal. Bass and mid ranges were fine; mid-range could be slightly better but passable. CONS: regardless of what size plugs I used I had to cram these babies in my ears real tight to get the full range of sound else they sounded tinny. I scoured the internet to find other plug fittings that might fit in my ears more securely; to no avail without allot of trial and error and, of course, money. The typical price for replacement plugs per pair are about $15 regardless of manufacturer. Overall: I liked them. The price was right. To get anything better would surely cost me at least $200 or more. |
