PROS: Easy to setup and use. Wildcard phone numbers, meaning you can put in just an area code and record your voice saying the city/county/state for that area code. The computer voice is nice and clear. Doesn't lose any of your settings when the power goes out!

CONS: Your recorded voice isn't as loud as the computer voice. There is no feature to disable including the area code in the voice announce for local calls. Sometimes when you record your own voice for a number the playback preview is from a different number, even though it stored your new recording correctly (this isn't a big deal at all, but it makes you think it didn't record your new entry correctly, when it did). A backlight that came on when the phone rang would be a plus. It would be really nice if you could put in an area code wildcard and have it playback your recording for that area code, then announce the phone number minus the area code in the computer voice.

OTHER THOUGHTS: I bought this for my 82 year old mother who can't read the caller ID on the phone. I was skeptical it would do everything they claimed, but it does, and it does it very well.

This is a great litle device that we rely on. It was a litle confusing as to how to record a custom name, but once I figured it out, it does a super job.

Talking Caller ID will allow you to screen calls faster if you program the Caller by name. After someone call you the talking caller ID will list the name and/or telephone number then you can record the name to match the telephone number. After you record the name, the next time the person calls, your voice will announce the caller. You do not have to listen closely to hear a telephone number being announced by the machine. You can manually add telephone numbers and record the names before a person call. It is much easier to record the name after you receive the call. I bought two Talking Caller ID machines to provide coverage for all the rooms. Hopefully a Talking Caller ID machine will be developed to allow the Customer to program the machine to record the name if available. The machine's voice is clear than the recorded voice.
