Product Description

Trips to the coffee shop are a thing of the past when you use the Saeco Talea Giro Plus RI9822/47 Automatic Espresso Machine. This automatic espresso machine features Saeco Brewing System technology, which lets you customize the strength and consistency of your coffee using a simple dial. Other features, such as the Pannarello steam wand and cup warming surface, help you make perfect drinks.

Philips Saeco Talea Giro Plus Product Features
Produces Rich Crema and Aroma

Insisting on bean-to-cup quality, the Talea Giro Plus brings Italian-style espresso home. With the touch of a button, it will produce true Italian espresso, with its signature dark color, rich layer of crema, fragrant taste, and intense aroma.

An adjustable, built-in ceramic grinder and a removable 57-ounce water tank with an Intenza water filter ensure consistent quality and clean taste. In addition, Saeco's optional Aroma System pre-brewing cycle injects hot water into ground coffee to maximize flavor extraction, and OptiDose technology lets you set the amount of beans ground per serving.

Make Customized Coffee with Saeco Brewing System

You can easily program your preferences using the Talea's simple interface so you can prepare your drinks with the press of a button. The machine features the Saeco Brewing System, which allows you customize the strength and consistency of your coffee using a simple dial.

The Talea also includes a Touch Lift drip tray to accommodate different cup sizes.

Fast, Precise Milk Frothing with Pannarello Steam Wand

An integrated Pannarello steam wand and Rapid Steam technology allow you to froth milk immediately after brewing--no long waits. Or, use the optional automatic Milk Island (sold separately), which froths milk at the twist of a dial. This container's lid is designed for easy transfer of creamy froth to your cup.

Efficient Design for Easy Maintenance

The Talea's brew group and grounds tray can be removed from the side--the machine rotates on wheel base to provide easy access to these parts. The manual drip tray is also removable for easy cleaning. An efficient warming surface on the top uses residual heat from the boiler to warm your cups so they'll be ready for coffee whenever you are (holds up to six).

Philips Saeco machines switch off automatically one hour after use.

Warranty Information

All Philips Saeco machines are tested with coffee. Although they have been carefully cleaned there might be some coffee residue in the machine. We guarantee however that the machine is absolutely new and recommend that you read the instructions before use.

The Saeco Talea Giro Plus is backed by a limited one-year warranty.

Definitely worth 5 stars overall in my estimation - having done lots of research and knowing its limitations before the purchase. Quality of the espresso produced surpasses almost all coffee shops including Charbucks and others by far. An expert barrista may be able to produce slightly better quality, but even their results are not consistent.

I previously returned a Jura-Capresso 13423 Impressa S9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Platinum because it produced inferior espresso and frothed milk with gigantic lukewarm bubbles. I would not have returned it (even at that price) if it had performed as well as the Talea. (THANK YOU AMAZON for a great return policy.) In fairness to the Jura, maybe it was faulty - at the finest setting the grounds looked very coarse - coarser than I would use for French-Press coffee.

The Talea cost 1/3 the price, produces far superior espresso, and very acceptable frothed milk BUT it is made of plastic and not stainless - which might be a more important disadvantage for some. The ceramic grinder is quieter, producing very noticeably finer espresso-sized grounds at the factory middle setting (experimentation proved this setting to be the best) than the Jura set to the finest grind. Consequently the coffee is much stronger than the single scoop of coffee would suggest (as compared with the Jura's 2 smaller scoops).

Within 80 seconds after switching it on, it completes a warm-up procedure which includes passing some 2oz of hot water (I use it to pre-heat my cup) through the two dispensing nozzles and is ready to brew coffee.

I have had my saeco talea Giro for about two years now. It had to be serviced once during this time. The machine is a bit touchy and you really have to get to know how it works before you can judge it. First of all you have to keep it cleaned and de-scaled to keep it in good working order. If you have no time for this then do not buy it. Lights will come on before you start to brew to let you know you have to clean out the coffee grounds or empty the water well. This can be annoying if you are ready to have an espresso and you have to stop and clean things out. It will not work unless this is done first. So what I do after I brew is take the time and clean and empty grounds so the next time it is ready to go. With that said, I absolutely love making my latte it is of the highest quality that you would find at Starbucks or any other great coffee house. I even take it with me on vacation, if I can. I think for the money though, it should be made of stainless steel and not plastic on the outside. Also the drip tray should be make more sturdy to hold a large cup and not break off like mine did. If you have any problems with this machine after warranty you have to ship it off to a dealer that fixes these machines. That can me troublesome and you have to do without your espresso machine for weeks. I did give this a high rating because of the excellent quality of espresso and lattes. In the end that is why I bought the machine.

I purchased this product about 8 months ago. Let me start by saying I have owned many espresso machines, and came back to the Saeco as I think they have the best grinder that makes a huge difference in the taste. It was all I hoped and dreamed for about six months, then my VERY expensive machine stopped grinding the beans and gave me an error message. I called the repair center and they said "are you using oily beans?" Ummmm I am making espresso with my espresso machine and a lot of espresso beans are oily, however I make decaf espresso which isn't oily, but that question gave me real concern about the grinder quality.... He then promptly emailed me a return shipping label. I packed it up and sent it off. I was without a machine for almost 6 weeks which for a person like me is unbelievably painful...Finally got it back. It worked for 10 days and shut down again. Grinder not working. I called the repair center a week ago now and said this thing is clearly a lemon and I cannot be without a machine for another 6 weeks. Steve at the repair center told me he had to contact Philips and get them to authorize the return. I packed it the same day hoping to get it out asap....No call back, no email. I called Steve again two days later and he said they should get back to me soon. That has been a week ago with my machine sitting in the box while I still am going to Starbucks every day. Very Very unhappy with the situation and their failure to back the machine in a timely manner.

To anybody out there who wants to purchase this super automatic:
This is a machine, just like your car, computer, airplane,...whatever..
It works in amazing ways IF you take care of it. Sure you can get a Rancilio Silvia, but you still have to "clean it" to work for you as intended by the manufacturer. This machine makes the same cappuccino or espresso as you have had in Milan or Torino, no difference what so ever, use italian roast (me=lavazza super crema)
grinder set to smallest size, amount set to 2 ounces(1 dot from the small coffee cup), 2 coffee bean aroma and #7 dot on SBS pressure.
Steam wond makes really nice micro foam, but you have to be quick, again this is NOT a silvia, foam loose air fast! Not quite good enough for latte art, but the flavor is there!
This guy will run for years, producing amazing cappuccino and espresso if you do the maintenance, sure your car needs oil, etc...
Please do the following and you will be smiling at this machine every time you sip into the joy it produces.
1. Cleaning tablets, once a month to take out oily deposits.
2. Use water filter Intenzia, change it every 6 months.
3. Descale it every 3 months.
4. Clean brew group with warm water once a week.
5. Lubricate brew group at the 6 moving spots every 3 months.
6. Do everything before the machine tells you to do, empty dregdrawer, fill water reservoir, empty drip trays, and you will never see the red warning light.
People who leave negative feedback about this machine are either dirty, do not understand how the machine works, never read the manual or work for some other company like Delonghi, Jura, Miele, or so.
The Saeco Talea Giro Plus as earned my 5 star.
Thanks
