Slim, ergonomic design.
Fill the reservoir with water or your favorite mouthwash for an added clean feeling.

If flossing isn't a regular part of your oral care routine, you’re not reaching the bacteria that can build up between teeth, causing plaque and bad breath. The improved Philips Sonicare AirFloss offers a simple, effective way to clean between your teeth. With one-button functionality and a guidance tip that ensures targeted cleaning, Sonicare AirFloss can easily clean between all of your teeth in just 30 seconds. Get excited for your next dentist visit!

Microburst Technology With Auto-Burst Cleans More Effectively

The Sonicare AirFloss’ micro-droplet technology applies a quick burst of pressurized air and micro-droplets of water or mouthwash to clean deep between teeth where a toothbrush can't reach. This gentle yet effective technology is proven to remove up to five times more plaque between teeth than brushing with a manual toothbrush alone. AirFloss helps prevent cavities between teeth and helps improve gum health in as little as two weeks.

With the auto-burst feature, cleaning your whole mouth takes only 30 seconds. Just hold down the button and move the guidance tip from space to space. It will automatically release a burst of air and micro-droplets every second. If you prefer more time between intervals, press the button once for a single burst, then move and repeat.

Slim Nozzle And Guidance Tip For Hard-to-Reach Areas

The easy-to-hold ergonomic handle features a slim, angled nozzle for easy access to all areas of your mouth. Replacement nozzles, available with different colored tips, allow for easy identification and sharing.

The guidance tip makes it easy to find the tight spaces between teeth and place the tip at the appropriate angle for maximum cleaning. Simply guide it along the gum line until the tip fits into the groove between the teeth. Replace your AirFloss nozzle every 6 months for optimal results.

Easy-to-Fill Reservoir

An easy-to-fill reservoir can be filled with water or with mouthwash for added oral health benefits and a fresh feeling. AirFloss produces less than a teaspoon of water or mouthwash per whole mouth clean.

Safe and Gentle

AirFloss is safe and gentle on teeth and gum and safe to use with implants, veneers, and orthodontics.

Rechargeable Battery Lasts Two Weeks Per Charge

The AirFloss features a rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed to last two weeks (or 14 uses) on a single charge. A battery indicator light in the power button blinks when it's time to recharge. For added convenience, the AirFloss fits standard Sonicare chargers, eliminating the need for multiple chargers with Sonicare products.

After my husband and I went through a serious bout of gum disease, followed by dental appliances and (in my case) braces, we have gotten Really Serious about oral care. (Our dental hygienist is _ever_ so proud of us.) As a result, I was really interested in this Airfloss electric flosser when Amazon Vine offered it to me. Philips gets points for creativity, but the end result has left me saying, "Eh."

The idea is fine. The Airfloss takes up about the same amount of counter space as the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush, which I also own (and am 5-stars happy with). You put water or mouthwash into the unit (it holds a tablespoon or so), point the thing at the space between your teeth, and push a button. With the compressed air and liquid it cleans between your teeth, and you don't have to mess with dental floss (or even get your hands wet). It shoots an annoying little spit at your gums, one tooth at a time, which might be worth it for the convenience of dental care in 30 seconds.

The implementation... doesn't work for me. Yes, it cleans out some stuff and would be better than nothing. But not MUCH better, especially since this is intended only for the front of the teeth. After using the Airfloss I flossed my teeth again with the regular old floss the dentist gave me, and plenty of stuff came out. On another day, in the interest of research, I used the Airfloss and then immediately used the Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser, and LOTS of stuff came out. A leaf of spinach could defeat this thing.

I use a Waterpik which can sometimes be messy and it takes up a good portion of space on the countertop, so when I saw this flosser from Sonicare I was excited to try it. I have used Sonicare toothbrushes for about 10 years now and currently use the DiamondClean. I am a bit of a Sonicare fan, as they usually make great products which provide visible results. Unfortunately, this flosser was a disappointment.

It is a nice size, not much bigger than an electric toothbrush and it does take up less space on the counter than my Waterpik, but those two things are the only benefits.

I don't feel like this flosser flosses very well at all. It works by having burts of air at a few seconds intervals. You move the tip across the gums and place into the spaces between your teeth, at the gum line. You can add water or mouthwash into the reservoir (It doesn't hold very much at all) but it doesn't really make a difference because it just bursts out like a mist. There is no stream and no pressure like there is with a Waterpik. It doesn't remove debris well at all. Also, when it does the little bursts, it sort of clacks onto your teeth - kind of like when shooting a gun, there is that kickback.

You cannot use this flosser from the backside of your teeth. I am not sure why, but the instructions say not to do it. I use my Waterpik all the time in the back of my teeth. I do a full tank on the front and then a full tank on the back and my teeth and gums are so healthy and all debris is removed. My teeth and gums look great. This Sonicare flosser just cannot match up to that performance.

It looks nice and doesn't take up much space - it is a neat idea in theory, but it jut doesn't work well enough (especially for the price!!

I like this machine. I have tried it boefore and after brushing and always follow it with regular floss to see how well it does. So far the floss has been clean between each and every time I have used the Airfloss. I do think that string floss will still be needed from time to time, but thus far I am happy with the results. Philips has a PDF summary of research on this device called "The Science Behind Sonicare Airfloss" on their site. It shows the benefits of this unit vs string floss and waterpik, and manual brushing alone.

I have to say, using mouthwash with the unit leaves my mouth very refreshed feeling. I use it for two rounds, which is how long it takes to run out of mouthwash. The first use was a bit messy, but that was to be expected. The second use, I got a method down and there was no mess at all.

Extra color coded tips can be purchased so the unit can be shared. I think this might be a great solution for those with braces where string floss is a nightmare and a waterpik is a mess maker.

Yes, it is spendy, and it would take quite some time to break even with floss, but for me it is worth it, as I really dislike string floss.

Update 12/18/13:

I am reducing the unit to two stars due to the following:

I dropped the unit while cleaning it from about two inches into the sink. The small plastic reservior door/cover was open and it broke in two. I contacted Philips about a replacement part, now this is a small snap in part. I was told that Philips does not sell the part and will not warranty the unit since I dropped it (though I never asked for it to be warrantied as I admitted I dropped it!). So, this small mishap that broke this small, yet very integral part has rendered this $80 unit useless. The representative agreed.
