See how you can use the supplied wireless USB transmitter to turn your home into a wireless network
The system consists of a Dolby Digital/DTS-capable surround sound receiver with an integrated five-DVD/CD changer, four compact satellite speakers, a center speaker, and a pair of Twin Sub bass pipes for full-throttle theater power. The MX6000i h as Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Pro Logic II processing, which generates 5.1-ch annel audio from any 2-channel source. The selectable NTSC/PAL DVD transport plays DVD+R/RWs, DVD-R/-RWs, VCDs, SVCDs, MPEG-4 videos, DivX files (3.11/4.x/5.x), CDs, CD-R/RWs, MP3 CDs, JPEG image CDs, and Kodak Picture CDs. An onscreen display simplifies setup and operation.

The MX6000i is equipped to access online services directly or to stream digital media like music, pictures, and movies from the hard disk of a networked PC (using the supplied PC Link software). When the system is hooked up to a widescreen TV, you'll enjoy all this multimedia content in the comfort of your living room. Wireless connectivity based on the 802.11b and .11g standards gives you the choice of connecting the MX6000i to cable or DSL broadband services through either a wireless network router or a wired Ethernet connection. Another feature of Philips' Streamium technology is upgradeability. You can upgrade the MX6000i via the Internet, adding new services and features like online games and access to Web-based photo albums, futureproofing the system against obsolescence and changing standards.

The MX6000i's easy-to-navigate menus help keep all your media accessible.
If your digital music files contain metadata, e.g., ID3 tag information (title, artist, and album), those details are show on a five-line display as well as on screen. You can navigate PC multimedia content on your TV and stereo with the remote control.

Six integrated 75-watt audio amplifiers drive the stereo speakers, the matching rear speakers, a center speaker, and two subwoofers built into the rear speaker columns. The system's four two-way (three-driver) satellite speakers acoustically match the tonal characteristics of the center speaker. Front left, right, and center speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent any interference with your television image.

The system's Class D digital amplifier takes an analog signal, converts it into a digital signal, and then amplifies it, producing strong, clear sound at high efficiency and with low distortion. Philips's ClearVoice technology ensures accurate dialogue separation in the action scenes of a movie, and you can adjust the speaker settings using the remote to achieve optimum sound immersion and listening enjoyment. The system's tuner offers AM/FM digital tuning with 40 presets (including an autostore facility and RDS display for station name and program type). Eco-power standby mode reduces power consumption to less than one watt.

1.0 out of 5 stars Played 3 dvds, went in the shop, December 13, 2005
This review is from: Philips Streamium MX6000i 5-DVD Home Theater System with Wi-Fi Connectivity (Electronics)
This theater system was a replacement for another theater system made by Philips that broke after 5 months.

This one was in my house less than a month when it went to the shop to have the laser replaced. That was after playing less than 10 dvds. After it was repaired, it played 3 dvds before needing to go back into the shop. We are less than two months into having this system in my house and it has needed repairs 3 times. Customer service is less than helpful. They would like me to ship it back to them at MY expense and they will ship me yet another unit.

Philips has no customer service and the products aren't worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Many defects with MX6000i, December 8, 2004
This review is from: Philips Streamium MX6000i 5-DVD Home Theater System with Wi-Fi Connectivity (Electronics)
Buyer beware. If you buy make sure you test EVERY feature before the 30 days are up. This will take alot of work as there are many features and alot of setup. Otherwise you cannot return it.

The MX 6000i I received had the following issues:
1) DVD player did not work
2) DVD drawer was stuck open after 3 openings.
4) Phillips support does not recognize the product model number
5) Product has many modes (TV sound, DVD, internet, PC link)
and locks up in these modes requiring a reboot.
6) Reboots are sometimes slow
7) TV sound mode has significant delay from TV picture
8) After some time TV sound mode adds artifacts to the TV sound requiring reboot.
9) Streamed media is jerky.
10) DVD drawers required many pushings of the buttons to open.
11) The pictures of this thing are misleading the tower speakers are really like 10 times the height of the DVD unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware - Poor Engineering, October 26, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Philips Streamium MX6000i 5-DVD Home Theater System with Wi-Fi Connectivity (Electronics)
Upon opening up the box, I discovered the poorly made, cheap plastic speaker stand was broken at the base. I went ahead and set it up just to see how the thing worked, and lo and behold the component video signal did not work. I spoke to Phillips guaranteed-to-make-you-pull-your-hair-out customer service people just to make sure there was no setting I was failing to change. They agreed that there was indeed a problem with the unit and suggested I send it back. Amazon was quick to send me a replacement unit, however when I tried this one, the same problem occured. The regular video and the s-video both work fine, just the component signals don't work. I double checked my component imput with another dvd player and it worked just dandy. Shame on Phillips for shipping a faulty product.
