Great Picture, Great sound,
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips TS3259C 32" TV (Electronics)
Before I bought this TV, I went to the consumer reports web site. This TV is listed as a best buy (for 32" TVs) so I bought it. The picture is great, as is the sound. This TV has the high end flat screen, but is not cluttered with interesting buy relatively unuseful features like Picture in Picture (PIP loses coolness after 1 week). So what you get is a great TV for a great price.

It's obvious that Philips invested the cost of this television in one great screen. Flat screen, rich color, sharp image, and lots of options for adjusting video settings. I didn't want PIP, Online-TV Guide, Commercial Skip, and all the other gadgets which, in my opinion, are frills. It should be said that the audio is impressive, also. The "super surround" setting really kicks the sound around the room.Due to the quality of this product, I'll be looking into Philips products for future purchases.

The picture is excellent -- crisp with a lot of easy to use controls to adjust it. The setup is simple and the sound system is amazingly good. I highly recommend this TV!

Happy customer.,

We bought this TV about 6 months ago and are very satisfied. It is probably no better than most others (not an expert here), but it is an excellent value. The remote control is well organized, the speakers are on front (which in my opinion is better than side firing types) and the features all work well without a bunch of silly things. The real question... would I take it back and exchange it for either another brand (same price) or upgrade to a more expensive type? Not a chance. Well satisfied here... at least until the wide-screen HDTVs take over the main stream. Biggest complaint? Big TVs are difficult to move around.

Good for the money but average overall,

I actually bought the 3284 model which has the 3259's tube with a few extra whistles and bells. The picture quality is decent and the sound is satisfactory but I completely agree with the reviewer who experienced problems with vertical white and black bars continuously appearing when using a video input source including DVD players. It's rather annoying but can be eliminated by reducing the contrast, but you lost picture quality in so-doing. This is very frustrating but overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase considering the price. I actually don't have cable or satellite )= but this TV picks up local stations rather well (much better than my previous top of the line JVC 27090 27" TV). Anyway, it's a good TV for the budget-minded but it's no Sony and despite Philips' boastings, it is NOT a flat screen TV. If you want a decent (nothing more) 32 inch picture for a modest price- it's a good buy.

Not good when using video sources,
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips TS3259C 32" TV (Electronics)
The picture is fine when using the cable jack, but when watching a DVD or VHS hooked up through the video in jacks, there are white vertical bars on the screen. They are very noticeable when the background is dark and especially when watching a wide screen DVD with the black areas on top and bottom. I took mine back and was going to try another of the same model, but even the demo in the store I was in did the same thing. I eventually bought a different brand because of this.

For the money, I don't think that you can get a much better tv. The sound is awesome! The picture is not the greatest, but it is extremely good. I think my favorite two features about this tv are the nearly-flat screen - it really gives you a larger, crisper viewable surface, and the easy to use remote control. I had this thing installed and running within three minutes.

Haven't bought a TV in many years and was very happy with this method, especially personal reviews (and also researched Consumer Reports, which had a favorable rating). Delivery took about 15 days, but was satisfied with service (set up, test, removal of shipping material). Missed free shipping by a few days! Excellent picture; very good for standard cable, sound is great and even better when routed through stereo system. Controls are simple. Highly recommended.

I am going to share about the model TS3258C 32" Picture is good, sound is good. Auto clock does not work since day one (always sets a wrong time). After I set up a clock in the manual mode then a few hours later TV changed the clock by itself. It can do it randomly without any power glitches. Never've seen such a problem before. Captions also are scrambled sometimes. Remote is small and unconvenient.
