This review is from: Philips 1000 Watts DVD Home Theater System with DivX Ultra, HTS3440/37 (Electronics)
Hey, it's got a powered/active subwoofer, and some stylish looking speakers. The only trick is that the controls for the subwoofer are not external. They are set thru the DVD menu, but the settings remain constant, whether watching TV, a DVD or the radio. Once I was able to get the bass turned up, the sound was very impressive, especially considering the price. I get a lot of compliments on the look of the speakers, and the subwoofer is a really good size. One caveat: DO NOT purchase a refurbished Philips item of any kind. The WORST customer service on the planet is thru Philips for their refurbished items, although their customer service for new items is comparable to other companies. I don't have a super expensive system, but it sure looks & sounds like it these days. I have: Sharp Aquos 32" LCD HDTV LC32D43U (love it!) DirecTV HD DVR HR20 Philips Home Theater in a Box (HTS3450--blk) Includes prog. scan DVD player and a jpeg/divx/mp3 player (NOT refurbished) Toshiba VCR Whalen Entertainment Center which includes a LCDTV mount Silver/Black Rear Speaker stands and wall mount speaker mounts for front speakers |
