I started hearing the stories from other Prius owners that the HID's were burning out early and sometimes at the same time while driving down the highway (scarey), and at first dealers were charging $800 per bulb (even more scarey). I was hoping mine wouldn't burn out, but guess what :-) I didn't even bother with the dealers, and I checked at Autozone and they wanted $176 each. Wow! I'm impressed that Amazon is almost 1/4 the price of even Autozone.

My first HID started going out at 54,000 miles. When they start to go they will go out for awhile, then come back on if you turn off and on the headlamp switch. It might go out one time a week, then it will be one time a day, then multiple times per day. So don't delay, if you have this intermittent issue you might as well get two of these and change them yourself. I bought 1 at a time, I replaced my passenger side first because my driver side didn't have any issues at that time. Seconds after I replaced the passenger side HID, I was standing in front of the Prius testing the new bulb, it looked great and bright, and I was happy, and wouldn't you know it, but the driver side flickered out right then. What timing! My Daughter laughed about that. So I should have just bought 2 of them at the same time and changed them both at the same time.

When I pulled out the old HID from my 2008 Prius, and put them side by side with the new HID, they were identical, same numbers, same Philips manufacturer. That was a pleasant surprise.

Don't remove the bumper, no matter what anyone tells you. All you need is a small mirror and a flashlight and a screwdriver, search youtube for "How to change your Prius HID bulb in 10 minutes (part 1)". If Jay can change this HID one handed while holding a video camera in the other hand, then anyone can do this. I am 6-3 and have large hands and I was able to do this without removing the bumper.

The dealer was going to rob me to replace my Prius bulbs. With some research and these wonderful and affordable bulbs, I was able to do it myself.

The other reviews are right! I missed the Class Action suit by 10,000 miles. I didnt even brother going to the dealer for a quote. After watching some videos I was able to do this all by myself. Note I dont have any experience in working with cars. Dont go to the dealer, do it yourself.

These are perfect if you have the dreaded Prius headlight problem. After watching a few videos on youtube, I was able to replace both of them pretty easily, without removing the front bumper. I Saved several hundred dollars by doing it myself, instead of paying the ridiculous price the dealer quoted. Total job took about 2 hours, but most of that was just taking my time and figuring out what I was supposed to do. It really isn't that difficult.

I have a 2007 Prius, original owner. In 2008 the head light had gone out and I went to the dealer to get them replaced under warrenty (there is also a recall on these headlights going out early). Now in 2011 my passenger side head light went out. I went to the dealer and they said the headlight bulb was going to be $200! No way, so I went to Auto zone to have them check out the part for me and it was $175. Ok... Amazon.com time. I find these headlight bulbs and they were a good price, not too cheap. I have had Phillips electronics in the past and they worked well. My only concern was that there were only 4 reviews. I gambled and bought 2 (as you are supposed to replace them in pairs). I had my friend install them for Free.99. He gave me the old bulbs that Toyota had installed the first time they went out. THEY WERE THE SAME. So get these! They are good enough for Toyota and they will last about 2.5-3 years. I think its time to go to Vegas with that luck! :)

HID bulbs don't last forever. Replacing the bulbs will fix the Prius headlight shutting off issue. You don't need to remove the bumper to put them in. I changed both in 20 minutes. This was the exact same bulb that was in my Prius. Replacing the bulbs also corrected the headlight aim. The glass gets cooked or coated inside and shades the light. The headlight that was cutting out really looked like it was way out of aim. New bulbs fixed everything.

This is the same OEM bulb as the original HID bulb in my 2006 Prius. I just replaced the passenger side HID bulb myself, saving $300 over what my mechanic was going to charge. The mechanic was going to charge $150 for the bulb and $200 for labor.

I've just ordered another bulb for the driver's side, since it's having the same "intermittent" outage issue. Another $300 saved...

This product is the exact item which the dealer was selling for $150, and another $150 to install. Light works great, offer excellent lighting at night. For installation just do a YouTube search on how to install (if you are buying for a Prius) and save your self hundreds of dollar. It took me 20 minutes to replace both headlights on our 2008 Prius, the space was VERY tight, but i was able to manage even with my big hands.
