4.0 out of 5 stars Best Antenna for the money!
Excellent Antenna, at an excellent price. Plugged in and received every available HD station in my area. Better than amplified RCA model, which is definitely going back to the store. It's amazing it pulls in such a good signal with no amplication.

3.0 out of 5 stars UHF only, fragile
When it works, this is a fine antenna for HD reception, as long as the station uses the UHF channels for HD broadcasting. The inner solder points are weak, as mentioned in another review, and broke after the antenna fell three feet to the floor.

3.0 out of 5 stars UHF only, fragile, May 2, 2006
This review is from: Philips ZHDTV1Z Digital Indoor HDTV Antenna (Electronics)
When it works, this is a fine antenna for HD reception, as long as the station uses the UHF channels for HD broadcasting. The inner solder points are weak, as mentioned in another review, and broke after the antenna fell three feet to the floor.

I replaced this unit with the Terk HDTVi, also sold here. The Terk unit looks similar, but has a set of built-in VHF dipole "rabbit ears" which allow reception of all local channels 2-13 as well as 14-69. For about two dollars more, it's kind of pointless to go with a UHF-only antenna like the Philips or Zenith versions when you can get similar UHF reception with the Terk and VHF as well over the same connection.

The Philips isn't a bad antenna, it works fine, but I recommend the Terk instead.

While this product may indeed pull in a week signal, any benefits are outweighed by the flimsy construction. The one I purchased didn't work at all until took a closer look and found that not one, but two solder points were broken and had to be re-soldered. There was obviously no QA at all done after assembly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy, January 9, 2007

Since I am not subscribed to Dish Satellite HD programs, I use this product only with a HD Dish Satellite Receiver to view my local HD programs. It works beautifully. Local HD programs come in strong and clear. It's easy to set up and easy to use. I recommend it, if used this way.

This antenna improves reception over the standard-issue rabbit ears.

Unfortunately, it is constructed rather cheaply. It could use a heavier base.

This antenna does not work at all. Even channel ABC has lots of flake or sometimes just black and white. I can't receive any channel with acceptable result. The result is almost equal to a small antenna comes with the TV.

I live 18 miles west of Philadelphia, PA and I receive 24 digital channels, including the major networks and PBS, in wonderful clarity on my new ATSC equiped LCD TV. I get basic analog (not digital) cable to save money. But this wastes the capacity of the TV. Because of this little antenna, I will drop cable and let the TV buy itself with the savings in just 10 months. Sweet!

5.0 out of 5 stars works perfect, April 9, 2006
This review is from: Philips ZHDTV1Z Digital Indoor HDTV Antenna (Electronics)
This antenna works perfect inside but even better outside. It says it's only for indoor use my I mounted mine on my roof and I now get a perfect HD signal on all the major Atlanta networks and I live about 15 miles from the TV stations.
