1.0 out of 5 stars Warning - High Defect rate for this TV, January 16, 2008
This review is from: Phillips 50PFP5332D 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV (Electronics)
If you are considering buying this TV, know this: It has an exceptionally high defect rate when compared to other, similar Plasmas. Specifically, it has a major problem with board faults (i.e. the circuits that run the TV). This defect causes the TV to turn off on its own shortly after initial use. A bit of internet searching will confirm this fact.

I read a bit about this prior to purchasing, but because of the price, decided to roll the dice and buy it anyway. Now, i am left with a $1500 (at the time) TV that doesnt work, cant be repaired, and if its replaced, will possibly continue to break. Philips just wants to keep sending Tech guys out to fix it. Yet, every one that shows up says there's nothing they can do and that i need to exchange the TV. Problem is that with most big TVs, you can only exchange for the exact same item. It a sadistic loop of replacing one poorly engineered TV with the same thing.

So go ahead and take your chances...just dont say you werent warned

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this tv!, November 3, 2009
This review is from: Phillips 50PFP5332D 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV (Electronics)
I have had this set just 2 yrs now and the screen went black. I contacted Phillips and no help there. I can't find a tech within 40 miles who will touch this tv and most said it would cost $400-$500 to repair. I will never buy a philips again. We opened the back of the tv and it is stamped Samsung all over it. If you want to spend a lot of money and have a working tv for a short amount of time this is the tv for you, otherwise stay away. I have a Vizio lcd for four years now and never a problem. Right now I am watching a 19' Vizio in front of my non working 52" Philips.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Customer Service, January 30, 2008

I purchased a plasma TV from Philips and started having problems with the television within a few months. Philips customer service was horrible to work with and it took three months for them to repair my television. Every time I called they told me that the part "was on it's way." They said that for three months. Whenever I called they wouldn't be specific. Not happy with their service. TV was defective. Didn't even last a year.
