Editorial Reviews

"This book is a welcome addition to the debates in this lively field, and there are many fine musical examples as well. This volume will encourage creative thinking and foster new appreciation of music in the Western classical tradition, as well as appreciation of some of the more modern music that is a response to it." --Phil Jenkins, Metapsychology

" extended, detailed and sophisticated consideration..."--Gary Iseminger, Mind

Format: Paperback
Addresses all the major areas in Philosophy of Music and Philosophically related aspects of contemporary and recent music. I especially like the section on New Issues and the article of Roger Scruton's which follows more in the setting of his book Understanding Music than his earlier books. It promises to be a nice read. Scruton's writing on Music Philosophy have really matured, as it were, "in the English mode" :) -- a quality anglophiles like me adore to no end. I took a course on Kant with him, crystalline he was; Oh, Roger, Clarity is thy name !
