2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Karen Turnbull on November 9, 2009
Format: Paperback
This is a very original philosophical study of Beckett's oeuvre. Whereas, in the past, so many studies have been based on one or other of Beckett's works, or have concentrated on Beckett's philosophical beginnings - or have even focused solely on snippets of Beckett, taken out of context - this book looks at all Beckett's work, as a philosopher, writer, playwright and poet, as well as examining his relationship both to the stage production of his works and to music. From such a comprehensive review, Beckett's view of philosophical aesthetics is reconstructed, and examined with reference to the interpretations of philosophers such as Theodor Adorno.

A must not only for students of Philosophical Aesthetics and of Beckett, but also for those of Adorno.
