5.0 out of 5 stars Is What It Says, "Hope" in a Jar

This has been my daily moisturizer for several years. It makes my skin very soft, very healthy looking, and glowing. It makes me look radiant. I have given it as a gift to my sister and to other women, and they have all liked it as much as I have. No one has had any adverse reactions. You can notice a difference after just one use. I like it, a small amount provides tons of instant moisture. I love the smell of rose hips, love everything except the price for a half ounce, ouch that's high.

When I've run out and used something else temporarily, I always can see the difference again once I start back up. It is as close as it gets to a miracle cream.

I do not wear makeup, so Hope In A Jar is it. I am 49 years old and I think my skin looks incredible. The friends I have given it to also like to keep a natural look and prefer their skin without heavy creams, thick moisturizers and sunscreens, or makeup.

The women I know who are fans of Hope In A Jar are like me. We're kind of lazy no-fuss "one cream that does it all" people; instead of one jar of something for one thing, and another for something else---eye creams, night time moisturizers, daytime moisturizers, etc.---we're the type that wants just one that can do the job and then be done with it. In other words, we don't have the patience to fuss with our looks a lot, or to spend money buying bunches of different creams to keep track of and remember to use.

Unlike other reviewers, I love the smell, which is not perfumey, but definitely pleasantly distinctive. I use it around my eyes also, and have not had an allergic reaction. It seems, though, that these are the two biggest problems with Hope---the distinctive odor and allergic reactions among some people. I would suggest buying it the first time from somewhere you could return it if you don't care for it; although in my opinion, this would be unlikely, apparently it is possible. Philosophy now makes another version of Hope In A Jar for sensitive skin; if you know that your skin in tempermental, perhaps it would be better to also try this version. I have stuck with Hope In A Jar because it works so well for me.

It seems expensive, but it is not because it lasts a long, long time. The two-ounce jar lasts me about six months. I use a toner and then Hope In A Jar and that's it. I'm done with my face in 30 seconds. Plus, it gives me a look that most women use makeup to get, so I think it's a bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honestly...you must try this product!, January 29, 2007
This review is from: Philosophy Hope In A Jar Daily Facial Moisturizer Cream World Famous Lotion Voted #1 by Sephora (Misc.)
O.k. initially i was hesistant to order this because other reviewers said that it smelled or gave them rashes. I have very sensitive skins and have experienced rashes from a number of moisturizers, but Hope in a Jar is one of the best products i have ever used. It's smell is kind of like lemon grass, and slightly similar to some tea tree products. It's not bad just earthy. It has helped my blotchy complexion, as well as faded acne scars that i have had for years. My skin never feels dry like it used to. I would recomend this product to anyone. And after using Hope in a Jar am anxious to try other Philosophy products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Smell is not great, December 25, 2006

I agree with another reviewer, the smell is not too great, especially if you combine it with the serums, then it's really bad. Some mornings it makes you gag. That being said, I really like this product. I just don't use the serum every day. It is very moisturizing without being greasy. I think it makes my skin look dewy and fresh and I don't have as many breakouts as with other products. I still recommend it to everyone since a good moisturizer is a staple for your daily routine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Took a while, but now I love it, May 5, 2008
This review is from: Philosophy Hope In A Jar Daily Facial Moisturizer Cream World Famous Lotion Voted #1 by Sephora (Misc.)
I used this product for more than 3 weeks before I decided I liked it. Initially I thought it was too light and the scent is very odd. It reminds me off that fake plastic doll hair smell. But I decided to stick with it and see what I thought after a month. Now I love it. It's light and has that whipped texture. It absorbs quickly and my skin is super soft. My makeup is going on smoothly and I even have rosey cheeks which I have never had. I haven't changed anything but my moisturizer so I will attribute the positive results to this product. I like that I can use the Bare minerals over it without it clinging to the moisture.
I would recommend this product. Like any other I think you need to use the entire product to really see results.

I usually buy this, strayed to Olay and was disappointed. Only problem is it dries up a bit in the jar

4.0 out of 5 stars hopeful cream, December 20, 2007

Great product. I have normal/dry skin & this cream left my skin feeling quenched and supple. The smell is a bit noxious but I overlooked that due to the results I was getting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmm..., December 27, 2007
This review is from: Philosophy Hope In A Jar Daily Facial Moisturizer Cream World Famous Lotion Voted #1 by Sephora (Misc.)
I read many reviews that the philosophy products are really good for all types of skins, so I trusted all reviews I read and purchased this facial mositurizer. I read a review that it smells like rose, but mine is more likely an ointment... I really dislike it!
And this cream isn't easily absorbed to skin. thus, if I wear foundation or sunscreen over the cream, foundation or sunscreen plus the cream will peel off. totally waste my money!
