Product Description
What’s better? A bird in your hand or two in the bush?
Jump the fence at the lowest or highest point?
And what does that have to do with Harry Potter, Tenzing Norgay, Paris Hilton and Aristotle?
Are you and Tony Soprano searching for the same things as Socrates did?
And what does a Swedish punk rock band have in common with the philosopher Spinoza?

It’s about dreams, ups and downs, and motivation. Mainly, it’s not only about becoming someone, but how important it is just to be on your way. And don’t forget that everyone can surprise him or herself, and do something unique and special in their lives. It might not be as difficult as you think.

About the Author
ERLING KAGGE was born in Norway in 1963. After earning a law degree at the University of Oslo, he became the first person to conquer the North Pole, South Pole and the summit of Mt. Everest. Kagge has also sailed across the Atlantic twice, around Cape Horn, and to Antarctica and back. In 1996, after a year's sabbatical reading philosophy at Cambridge University, he founded what is today one of Scandinavia's most profitable publishing houses. In addition to running his business and collecting contemporary art and Russian icons, Kagge lectures frequently to geographical societies and business organisations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Life Handbook, December 1, 2008
By Capitalized Living (CapitalizedLiving.com) - See all my reviews
This is one of those rare books that gives depth of meaning and a wider range of applicability with age. The more you read it, the more you will learn about yourself.

I would put this book on par with Paul Arden's first two books as well as Jack Foster's book How to Get Ideas. While one could argue the individual merits of any of these books against the others, they all have extremely valuable things to say on a very personal and practical level.

How anyone could give this book only one star is beyond me. It is infinitely more useful than its price would suggest, and if any negative reviewer bothered to apply the lessons in this book instead of just ponder them, they would realize this as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caveat lector, December 6, 2007
By area d fm (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This book is terrible. Poorly written, poorly conceived. Please don't waste your money or your time.

Zero stars.

I trusted the publishers--who seem in general to have very good taste. I highly recommend all of Antal Szerb's books.
