I have tried so many different face washes. I've used neutrogena, biore, proactive, clearasil, acne free, and clean and clear, but nothing compares to this facewash. I have very dry, acne prone skin and nothing I've used has worked as well as this one. It leaves my skin very soft and smooth and it really helps take the makeup off my face without any left over residue.

I use it everyday before I go to sleep and then I will apply tea tree oil (100% Pure Tea Tree Oil + Free Cleansing Bar with Tea Tree Oil) but only on the areas of my face where I have zits. I use to tend to get acne on my hairline so I would just use a cu-tip to apply the oil to those areas and now-a-days zits are very rare for me. Tea tree oil is really great for people with sensitive skin just like the Philosophy Purity Made face wash is. I've been hooked on both for a long time and until someone can find me something better, I'm sticking with what works.

I adore this cleanser. Once trying it in a smaller size, I had to upgrade to the big size because I never want to be without it. Purity is so simple to use, just a little in your hands in the shower or over a sink or in a wash cloth and it clean as so gently. It is a smooth creamy facial wash that does not foam or sudz up very much, and that is a good thing. It has a lovely scent. I have not had to buy an eye makeup remover since using this (I've been using for two years) because this stuff will remove it so effectively, there is also no burning in the eyes while washing, even when I have my contacts in. The best part of this cleanser is that I do not get blemishes anymore. I have always had stubborn acne and have tried every product and system on the market and nothing worked. I now think that all I needed was effective cleansing that was not irritating. Purity is so gentle and does not over dry the skin. I think it is ideal for any age, but I would especially recommend for acne prone skin. Many products are chemical laden and just too harsh and can further irritate, this stuff is perfect and calming to skin. Please give it a try! I am never going back.

Since this product has 132 reviews now, I can't imagine that anybody is going to read mine, but here goes anyway what the hell.

This was about two years ago. Like dozens of other people, the Purity cleanser made me break out. Worse, I was using it with the Clarsonic Mia, and I started them both at the same time, so I didn't know which to quit. Some sense of self-mutilation made me power through with both of them. To this day I don't know why I did it. This is like injuries sustained in battle. It ended up being the right thing to do because now my skin looks good-to-verygood-to-great. I use Purity with the Clairsonic morning and evening. I'm very happy with it. It gets all my makeup off in thirty seconds, and my pores are smaller, and when I go for exfoliation there isn't very much to take off.

Seriously, it took a month for my skin to adapt and quit breaking out. Just so you know.

I purchased this cleanser from Sophora. It came with a trial-size Hope in a Jar moisturizer (purported to "moisturize, hydrate and provide antioxidant protection, while improving skin texture"). In my enthusiasm to switch to the Philosophy line of facial products, I ordered the ridiculously over-priced Time in a Bottle daily age-defying serum, and the Time in a Bottle daily age-defying eye serum from Amazon. Well, I guess you can say that the joke is on me. These products did not defy age, nor did the cleanser "gently cleanse, tone and melt away all face and eye makeup in one simple step, while lightly hydrating the skin". I have fairly normal skin -- never too dry, never too oily, not many break-outs -- but showing the usual wear & tear of 50+ years & sun-bathing abuse from my teens. Naturally I was interested in a product that would reverse the signs of aging, and improve the texture of my skin. Hope in a Jar. Time in a Bottle. Purity Made Simple. What more could a girl ask for? I'll tell you: A product that isn't going to CREATE more wrinkles! A product that isn't going to dry my skin out to the point of severe -- and I mean SEVERE -- itching and flaking. A product that isn't going to make my eyelids sting and droop and crease. I looked like someone took a wire brush to my chin and around my mouth area, the redness was so pronounced. My face has never been so chapped! Was this an allergic reaction to something I ate, I wondered, because I refused to believe that this wonderful company that "celebrates the beauty of the human spirit" with products that "enhance your skin and well-being with multitasking benefits" could be the culprit.Read more ›

I have moderate acne and used this for a month with my Clarisonic in hopes of clearing my face. It didn't do anything to help my skin and in fact made it worse. Maybe this is good for removing makeup, but it isn't productive for acne prone skin. It dries your skin and leaves it feeling tight too. Wouldn't recommend.
