Life Changer,
By Divine Miss M. (USA) - See all my reviews I'm 28 years old, and have oily, acne prone skin. I've been struggling with my skin since I was 13 years old, and have tried literally everything on the market. On a whim, I bought Purity Made Simple, and noticed a difference the very first time I used it. My face felt clean...really, really clean...for the first time in ages. I had no real problems for the first few days, then around the end of the first week, I had a terrible breakout. Cystic acne, regular acne, you name it. It was awful. My first reaction was to stop using Purity, then I remembered the old adage, it gets worse before it gets better, and kept using it day and night. Keep in mind, at this time, Purity was only skin care product I used. About 10-14 days later, my skin starting looking better. My acne healed and my face looked...dare I say clear? I gradually started adding in other philosophy products and since that time, I've had maybe 1 pimple every 4 weeks, if that. My skin is soft, radiant, and clear. For the first time in my entire life, I can go out of the house with no makeup on. For me, it's been a miracle. I've thrown away every other product I had in the bathroom, I'm a believer. I'm a philosophy girl through and through. I can't praise philosophy enough, and I encourage anyone to try it. Give it a chance to work, it'll change your life.

wish this had worked for me,
I rarely write reviews but I wanted to provide a counterpoint to some of the ecstatic reviews of this cleanser. I used it for about a week and while it made some parts of my face look beautiful and I loved the smell, it ended up giving me cystic acne like I haven't had in years. I stopped using it two weeks ago and one of the cysts is still there.I'm in my twenties and took Accutane as a teenager, so I'm an extreme case as far as the skin problems go. Nonetheless, if you've got oily, problematic skin, this may not be the solution for you. Please, get the smallest bottle before you commit to a bigger one. This stuff is too expensive to waste tons of money on if you're not sure it won't end up making you look & feel worse. Loved the way it felt, loved the way it smelled, but it didn't work out for me and the same may be the case for you.

Simple and Effective and Fun,
I really like "Purity Made Simple". It is a one-step cleanser for those of us who like things easy and who don't want to buy gajillions of products that we end up not using. It has a clean, fresh scent that is sort of herby, yet kind of minty, while not smelling like mint at all---it mostly just smells pleasant and fresh, if there is such a scent. I do not wear makeup at all, but my skin is a combination type. So I have dry spots and wrinkles, and then really oily places (like my nose and forehead). I am menopausal to boot so I have wrinkle concerns and no longer scrub my face with soap. "Purity Made Simple" is the solution to all of these problems for me. I put a little bit on my hand in the bathtub, and gently wash my face with it each morning. It feels so good and is fun to use, because your face feels incredible afterwards! It doesn't foam up at all, but it's not that kind of cleanser. You get used to no foam. Kind of like with your antiperspirant or your moisturizer---you don't want foam from them either, but you don't expect it right? If you're used to suds with a facial cleanser, I'm betting you'll get used to the simplicity and effectiveness of this product and will not miss your old cleanser one bit. Some other reviewers said it irritated their skin, which I'm sure can happen with any product. Check the ingredients listed on this page and make sure you're not allergic to any of them, then try the product, and hopefully you'll get to use it and be as happy with it as I am. You only use a little bit, so it lasts a long time. Highest recommendation. *****

I like this stuff. As a man I don't need it to wash off make-up, but I find it a very gentle facial cleanser for everyday use in the shower. Leaves my face feeling clean, and does not dry my skin. Smells clean and fresh, and rinses off easy.

Great stuff!,
By Deanna in Cali "DJ" (California) - See all my reviews The only thing I would ammend about this product is that I wish it was paraben-free since there's all this buzz about parabens [perservatives] being "sooooo" bad for you. But until they come out with a version that doesn't contain these perservatives, there are bigger things in life to work about. I still give this product two big thumbs up. No one product works for everyone, but this works well for me - someone with combination skin, no acne, and chronic, unpredictable skin issues [eczema, dermatitis, etc.]. Another good product to try is Boscia cleansing gel, which IS paraben-free and works awesome, but it's almost twice the price, ounce for ounce.

This review is from: Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser, 8 Ounce (Misc.)
I wish I could love this product, but I don't. At the same time, I wish I could hate it so much I'd just throw it away, but I don't want to do that either.I read so many good reviews about Purity that the first time I used it, I used it with my Clarisonic. Big mistake. My skin became so irritated afterwards that it caused an acne flare up. Purity has some irritating ingredients in it, such as black pepper (of all things...). Therefore most of the time I don't use this thing at all. However, I have found that it works well for removing makeup. I don't know about the long-lasting types of makeup, but at least it works well for removing powder makeup. So that's a plus... In short, if you're thinking about buying this, start with the smallest bottle you can find. |
