Book Description

Phoebe has the worst taste in men and after storming out on Brian she goes from the hearth into the pyre. Seithe has an immediate hold on her from the moment they touch. He's more dangerous than Russian roulette and yet he makes her feel alive, exhilarated, safe. Infected by his intoxication she is obsessed with the man who changes more often than a chameleon at a disco.

Seithe is more than a man, he's a supernatural, one who puts Phoebe into immortal danger. Now she's hunted, betrayed, and deliberately misled.

This is a scorching journey to reawaken your senses. Phoebe's light can only be found in the darkness of Seithe's home, in his bedroom, in his arms.

Book #1 in the Neuripra Series

Editorial Reviews

Review

I thought the book was going to continue on this "dark" path all the way through, but things start coming to light, and the "feel" of the book takes a more natural turn (something I could somewhat relate to)... easing my own worries that this book would pull me into an abyss that would take days to get over. The "real" world comes back into the picture. I start seeing the light. Overall, I loved the book, and will continue the series. I'm interested in the author's take on "fallen angels/God/vampyre lore" situation, and while some of it made me uncomfortable, there were many descriptions and situations that had a certain... depth and intrigue ~ Maryse's Book Blog

Phoebe meets Seithe and is angry enough to accept his manipulations as a means to altering her current issues with men. Seithe seeks to awaken Phoebe to the truth beneath the veneer by using the magic of sensation to shock her into awareness. I am wholly entranced by Poppet's ability to take known myths and legends and manipulate them into something close to believable, tying together varied strands into something that forms a whole. I have been fortunate enough to review Poppet's other books and while this one isn't as visceral as those, it possesses an originality that is strangely real. Reality and fantasy knits together seamlessly to create an über book. This journey will leave you wishing it could be true. ~ author Elaina J Davidson

4.0 out of 5 stars Poppet's most dangerously attractive tale yet July 28, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Seithe is a slice of supernatural erotica, with a creative twist on the usual `gothic' myths. Phoebe is the kind of character you can relate to as a reader, and that's what makes Seithe himself so very seductive. From their first public meeting in the gorgeously goth nightclub, she falls under his spell, transforming herself to meet his standards, and leading her to private games of torturous pleasure in his lair. It's all to easy to see ourselves in her place, and to willingly follow her into darkness

Like Exploits and Darkroom, Seithe deals with power relationships, but in a different way. In Exploits, it was cruel and unhealthy, but still close enough to `normal' to seem realistic. In Darkroom, it was another one-sided relationship, but one that went beyond cruel and unhealthy, and into sadistic and dangerous. In Seithe, the obsession here goes both ways (creating an artificial sense of equality), and the supernatural element makes it seem so much more acceptable.

Personally, I found Seithe to have the most attractive ending of my Poppet reads so far, perhaps because it's not one I expected her to write. If you've yet to experience Poppet's unique style, her flair for language, and her psychological mastery, I urge you to give her a read. She'll challenge you as much as she entertains you, and she'll never make you feel safe within the story, but she'll ensure you come out the other side. Whether or not you come out unscathed, unchanged, is entirely up to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Seithe.. You are so Friggin' Crazy/Awesome. October 26, 2011
By Shanda
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well, well, well Mr. Seithe you really know how to make a girl's head spin! That's exactly what this entire book did. One minute I was like, "SEITHE!! YOU FRIGGIN PSYCHO CRAZY PERSON YOU SUCK!!" The next minute I was like, "Mr. Seithe that was the sweetest thing ever! I love you too!" I swear this book turned me around like no other book ever has. I literally TRIED to make myself stop reading it. I mean it was ridiculous on some parts. He came off kind of psycho killer at a couple of points and I WANTED to stop reading the book(I just couldn't do it!) and stop reading it. I kind of felt bad that I kept going, but I just had to know what happened. Why was he doing this? What was his problem? Even better, what was this girl thinking?! Grow some, honey, and show him whose boss!! My goodness!! Also, this book had me thinking differently for a couple of days. Don't laugh, but I totally starred at a door for like ten minutes trying to see through it(you'll know what I mean once you read the book).. good gosh that's embarrassing! This book had good points though that I have never thought of! Oh, well- the book came out pretty good. I rated it okay, but I like it more than okay, I can't say I like it because some of the parts were like um no.. and I can't say I hate it because some parts were like.. oh yeah. So, like I was saying, Mr.Seithe, you really know how to make a girl's head spin!

5.0 out of 5 stars My personal favorite February 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Out of all the Poppet books there are, this is absolutely my very, very favorite. Seithe and Phoebe have such a chemistry and connection that it's mind blowing. Seithe, who is hard to understand at first because nothing he does seems to make any sense until you turn the page, and slowly his reasons behind everything become clear. This book was brilliant and I've read and reread several times. Love this story and these characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enticing, yummy, outstanding! February 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
‘I am stranded between realms...’

Phoebe is angry and it dumps her into big trouble. She hurtles out into the dark without thought, uncaring of the dangers of night...and discovers great secrets hide under cover of that dark. She will discover everything is definitely not what it seems as first glance, that the veneer of daily life is exactly that, a veneer.

‘Somehow doing something utterly forbidden is always irresistibly enticing.’

Phoebe meets Seithe and is angry enough to accept his manipulations as a means to altering her current issues with men. Seithe seeks to awaken Phoebe to the truth beneath the veneer by using the magic of sensation to shock her into awareness. Phoebe needs to rely on her instincts, quickly.

Why? Everything is not what it seems ...so, what does lie beneath? First, there is instinct. We have the power to use it well if only we could trust it. And then there is the great power in love, and what it is able to achieve for humankind. And for those beyond the restraints of mortality.

I am wholly entranced by Poppet’s ability to take known myths and legends and manipulate them into something close to believable, tying together varied strands into something that forms a whole...and that is as much as I’ll reveal at this point! I don’t want to reveal the crux of this fantasy- I urge you to discover it for yourself. Go on.

I will say Seithe is seriously sexy ...and has an equally yummy brother...and sister. And if that doesn't have you in the throes of curiosity...

I have been fortunate enough to review Poppet’s other books and while SEITHE isn't as visceral as those, it possesses an originality that is strangely real. Reality and fantasy knits together seamlessly to create an outstanding book.
