EXCELLENT For At Home Weight Training!,
By InTheBigApple "InTheBigApple" (Manhattan/NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Phoenix 99255 Adjustable Slant Board (Sports)
I purchased this slant board in hopes that it would suffice for a weight bench while lifting weights at home. I am THRILLED with this purchase. It has more than exceded my expectations. It is solidly constructed and very nice looking. It is easily stored away as it will slide right under the bed or stand up in the closet much like an ironing board. The padding for the legs while working abs is great and provides nice support behind the knee. You can adjust this so that you have an incline or a flat bench for such exercises as dumbbell flyes or bench presses. This is a really great product and I'm so happy I made the investment. If you're looking for a "weight bench" to use for at home weight lifting/exercises, I highly recommend this slant board. It's also very light weight! I'm 5'9" and 170lbs and it more than provides room and support for my body. I think even guys/gals over 6'0" would work well too! GREAT PRODUCT!

Maybe I'd like it if it were put together properly,

I bought this bench because of the good reviews and the price. After struggling to put it together, I realize that purchasing this bench is like spinning a roulette wheel. If you get a bench that was put together properly and aligned correctly, it'll be useful. Otherwise, you'll be left with nothing but frustration. Count me as the latter.
The pegs would not fit into the hole when I stretched out the leg support. Even if I could somehow manage to push it in there, it would still leave me with the same problem on the other end. I could have somehow tried to file down the hole so it would work, as an alternative to going through the hassle of returning, but I don't see why I should have to pay for a product that isn't acceptably put together out of the box. ETA: Seeing the negative votes on my review, I will add this: The bench was great! You are guaranteed to get a great workout putting these poorly designed hunks of metal together. I sweated off about five pounds just trying to get the pin into the hole, even though there was no possible way for them to fit. Forget the weights! Forget the sit-ups! Just buy this bench and try to put it together. You're sure not to be disappointed. That's what you get for honesty and trying to help your fellow man out: a slap in the face. So be it. You won't be getting any more reviews from me.

Decent equipment for the price,

I've had my slant board for about a month now. I use it in the flat position as a dumbbell bench and for crunches. I've used the slanted position to stretch out my back after snow shoveling. (I hope to eventually do crunches in that position.) I'm 6'1" (with most of my height from the waist up) and the board fits me well.
I have a few complaints. As noted by M. Friedman, it does not fold down as compactly as claimed. If you remove the front supports (quick and easy enough), it folds down to about 6.5 inches. There were also a couple of minor quality issues. The most significant was that in the upright position the lockpin didn't go through because a couple of holes did not quite line up. I had to file it out. I also expected the backrest to be cushier, but maybe that's not really desirable. The instructions are inadequate. They tell how to assemble, but not how to adjust the unit (although you'll figure it out). They provide generic information about stretching and heart rates, but no suggestion of specific exercises you might perform on the slant board. There's not even a picture of a person using the equipment. There is a chart of the body's major muscles groups with the assurance "this product will develop both upper and lower body muscle groups." In the end, the product does what I want it to do and I can't complain about the price.
