Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

When Robert, Cyril, Anthea, and Jane discover that their new carpet is a magic one, they are thrilled-even though some of their wishes don't work out the way they intend; with the carpet comes a phoenix, who comes to their rescue more than once. Anna Bentinck's reading is slow and articulate, and she distinguishes the children's voices and most of the minor characters as well. The voice of the phoenix is exceptionally well done slow, proper, and a little prim; you can almost see her spreading her feathers and regally acknowledging the children as her subjects. Although the abridgment is somewhat uneven and leaves listeners with an unfinished feeling, the adventures would entice any school-age child.
