Book Description

July 1, 2003
The first time they tried to kill her she went to the police. The second time she knew better.

Caitlin Maxwell is on the run. They killed her husband and now they are after her. Alone and desperate, she turns to John Blalock, the one man from her past she knows she can trust. John risked his own life to save her once. Would he - could he - help her outwit and outrun her pursuers long enough for her to unravel the secret behind The Phoenix Egg?

Phoenix (phoe·nix): from Greek phoinix: a legendary bird which lived 500 years, burned itself to ashes on a pyre, and rose alive from the ashes to live another period. The Phoenix symbolizes immortality, resurrection and life after death.

The Phoenix Egg - an impossibility; something that cannot exist.

About the Author

Richard Bamberg grew up in a small town in the heart of Alabama during the 60s. He started work as a logger and truck driver, entered the Air Force as a radio operator and did a little duty as a forward air control operator in a small Southeast Asian nation. After graduating from Texas Tech University, he returned to the Air Force as an electrical engineer where he spent most of his time at the Air Force Weapon's Lab and at the Tactical Air Warfare Center.

He currently lives with life partner, wife, and best friend - Joy in Huntsville, AL, where he works on the national missile defense system.

His writing leans toward thrillers with a touch of science fiction and horror. The Phoenix Egg is his fourth novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars What came first--the Phoenix or the Egg?, October 10, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Phoenix Egg (Paperback)
Profound questions, engaging concepts, thinking processes, magic and miracles are all there in Richard Bamberg's new book. This is an action adventure book with a touch of science fiction and psychic mind magic. It's more then an engaging and entertaining read, it's an adventure that will have you turning pages for many pleasurable hours of reading enjoyment and wanting more when you're finished. The author can write! The premise is unusual. I recommend the book for your reading pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-notch suspense with a twist!, August 13, 2003
This review is from: The Phoenix Egg (Paperback)
This is the first novel I've read by relative newcomer Richard Bamberg, and it will not be the last. Wonderful techno-suspense, it hits the ground running from the first page and doesn't let up. A flavoring of today's - and possibly tomorrow's - science make the book more interesting than those same old authors you've been reading. The characters are enjoyable, even the minor characters are interesting. Be the first in your neighborhood to 'discover' this fun read! Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dirk Pitt meets Dean Koontz, September 5, 2004
By
This review is from: The Phoenix Egg (Paperback)
The action in this "government coverup" thriller starts off at over 100MPH and accelerates much like a launch from a Cape Caniveral pad. In this page-turner, the author expertly and deftly fleshes out and develops the two protaganists, John and Caitlin, who are in possession of what just may be the most startling and important invention ever created. As they learn more about the Phoenix Egg, in the layered manner that an onion is peeled, and struggle to stay one step ahead of corporate espionage thieves, international assassins and agents of secret governmental agencies, we are drawn into the desperate world of John and Caitlin. I am a fan of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels and heard this one would be like Dirk Pitt being in a Dean Koontz novel. Richard Bamberg's John Blalock is more interesting than Cussler's Dirk Pitt and the action is better described and faster pace. Blalock would kick Pitt's rear!
