5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great
At first I was skeptical since I also own a Sony Digital Camcorder, however when I received it, I had no problems connecting it to my Sony Camcorder and as a bonus it also works with my digital camera which uses both USB or firewire. Firewaire is much faster, so if you have that option, this type of cable will save you minutes off your precious time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not like the photo in the add.
Shown as Gold firewire and it was not. They sent me a generic regular not gold plated firewire cable. It works it is just not as good a quality as was pictured and as I was hoping for. Be cautious when purchasing from this seller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Correct Review, March 30, 2007
This review is from: Phoenix Gold IEEE-1394 4-Pin/6-Pin FireWire Cable (2 Meters) (Personal Computers)
Ok, I don't know what the first reviewer was talking about (the guy who said it didn't work) because I just got mines and it works perfectly, I had two camcorders; sony and canon, and it still works with both. I already captured footage and made a movie with this firewire. So, yes. It's work it, it was very cheap and I give it a 5/5.

I was worried to get this because of the low ratings and was about to get a expensive one, but I didnt and I'm glad I got this, it is very cheap, reliable, and fast shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great FireWire for a Great Price!, January 7, 2010

The Phoenix Gold FireWire Cable is a great cable for any amount of money! It has gold connectors as described. It was a snug fit on the Mini end, but that is good and prevents the cable from falling out easily. The cable has a good woven shielding that you can easily see through the clear plastic, and it also has a ferrite bead to further increase it's signal quality.

One thing to note when using a FireWire device on a computer that has been upgraded to Windows 7 or a device that was manufactured before Windows 7 (and hasn't explicitly upgraded its drivers to Windows 7 yet). Go to Start Menu-->Contol Panel-->Device Manager. Expand the IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers and check to see that it says (Legacy). If it does not, double click on the entry and click the Driver tab. Click "Update Driver..." and "Browse My computer for Driver Software." Then click "Let me pick from a list of devices on my computer." Select the driver that ends with (Legacy)and click next to install the driver.

Failure to install the Legacy driver with older equipment will cause all sorts of trouble (including hard Blue Screen Crashes) that will have nothing to do with the FireWire Cable regardless of what you might otherwise be led to believe by your very frustrating experience.

Again, this is a great cable and worth more than many cables that cost much more!

1.0 out of 5 stars Phoenix IEEE-1394 Cable Compatibility, January 29, 2005

The 4 pin connector was overlarge. It would barely go into my DVD recorder, but would not connect to my Sony camcorder at all. (I tried another brand, which fit easily into both.) If look are looking for a cable for your Sony camcorder, don't buy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars fast and cheap, December 11, 2009

These cables have not had any issues. the 2 meter length seems a little long, that is until you try having the firewire plug on the back of a desktop machine on the floor and your firewire device on the desk on the opposite side from the computer. Also, my cam uses the 4 port end and the card in my machine is 6 port, so these cables work out very nicely. I just leave one plugged into my desktop and the other I carry with my macbook (has its own pcmcia firewire card). makes life convenient all the way around. Not a bad price either (for less than a buck each).

I bought this item after reading some of the other reviews saying that it wasn't the gold wire as pictured. The item still functions well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cable, August 2, 2009
This review is from: Phoenix Gold IEEE-1394 4-Pin/6-Pin FireWire Cable (2 Meters) (Personal Computers)
Bought this to connect my panasonic camcorder to my mac. Works great. Great price. I initially checked out the local stores and they wanted to charge quite a bit for the same cable.

I was worried that a cable this inexpensive might not work with my macbook and video camera, but it does perfectly. As soon as I got it, I hooked up my Canon mini dv video camera to my Macbook and imovie recognized it right away. What a great deal!
