Excellent!,

I've just got it now, and I thought I must tell you what I think! The first ever Toyah song I heard was Jungles of Jupiter on her 1981 album "Anthem", and I fell in love with her. But this album is TOP! EXCELLENT rhythms, sounds, and stunning vocal effects and the little Latin flavour is very nice! Some of the songs are already 6 years old now, but you can't hear that at all! It sounds EXTREMELY MODERN! Please, all Toyah fans, give this CD to your children or other young teenagers, and introduce it to them -they'll love it! She's an artist, she can do anything! Buy it, enjoy it!

Toyah's Music Matures with her listeners,

This is a great Toyah Cd. She Once again proves that she can do anything. She has put out a wonderful mix of dance songs without ever losing the Toyah Touch that makes her so Great. Song such as "Now and then" and "World of Tension" are stand-outs. If you have to get any Toyah CD get this one. If you've never listened to her before, Start with this one. One warning though, if you already have Dreamchild" pass on this one (same CD with 1 more song added). Buy this Cd, enjoy this CD. BE PROUD, BE LOUD, BE HEARD

I started listening to Toyah after I saw Danced in Urgh! A Music War, she's such an elegant singer! I own the Toyah! Toyah! Toyah! collection tape, and found it very great! In this album, Toyah shifts to dance/techno music from new wave/punk, and what she does accurately gets the heart of this style! If you're a Toyah fan, I'm sure you'll love this CD, if you're not a Toyah fan, you'll be one after listening!

sort of Toyah,

Purchase the Changeling or Anthem before you deal with this modern Toyah. I hate drum machines and mind-less tapeloops. I don't mind the new format, except that it's annoying, empty, and not very expressive, except for Tone Poem.

If you look up the 'Dreamchild' of 1994 and compare the tracks you will find them EXACTLY the same. I would recommend buying DREAMSCHIlD used and save 50%! Anyhows this and pretty good album for the dance club scene. I thought the track 'I don't know' was wonderful. If you like this kind of music I also recommend Gudrun Gut's (Memebers of Oceanclub), for those into trance styles.

Toyah "Phoenix" is an excellent CD! I seriously have not been able to stop listening to it since I got it. Toyah's simultaneously sultry and spooky vocals work wonderfully with the techno/dance feel of this album. The only other Toyah album I have is "Ophelia's Shadow" which has a totally different musical feel--more new wave/progressive rock. Both albums have Toyah's signature vocals, though. Standout tracks on "Phoenix" are tracks 7,8, and 9 which are, respectively, "Lost and Found", "Over You", and "I Don't Know". I love the way this CD has re-curring musical themes that really make you feel like you are on a journey. Enjoy the ride!

Modern Toyah... Gotta love it.,

A fan of Toyah since the mid-eighties, I was extremely impressed when I picked this up last year in England. I hadn't realized she'd continued singing, and boy, I'm wondering what I missed. Phoenix demonstrates a wonderful appreciation for current styles and mixes, and Toyah comes through with a beautiful mix of dance, techno, and a touch of alternative, meshed together into something purely Toyah.
