OK, so I ripped open the package and devoured this in two hours when I got home from work tonight. I'm a nerd. Sue me. Sue my pants right off. This volume of the Phoenix Wright manga centers around Miles Edgeworth, the sexy, sexy prosecutor who is arguably the world's first gay video game hero. (Some argue that he is just dainty.) He is Phoenix Wright's uptight rival/friend/gay love interest. Tension and jokes abound. To be honest, some of these comics didn't make much sense at all. Maybe it's just a weird translation. But that's not to say they didn't make me laugh. It's the little things that cracked me up. Edgeworth buys a magazine called "Prosecutor's Friend" that includes a pull-out poster of the Judge. Phoenix and Maya argue about whether the Pink Princess is "sexy." Franziska goes whip shopping. It has its heartwrenching moments, too. Edgeworth goes to criminal lengths to keep sweet little Pearl from seeing a movie with a sad ending. Phoenix tries to convince Edgeworth that he is not alone in the world. I really wouldn't recommend this to people who haven't played the games. They just would not understand it at all: you need to know going into it that Edgeworth is uptight and Phoenix is a slob and Gumshoe can't do anything right and Maya loves to eat and Franziska is a bitch. This book made even less sense than the first volume, and most of the humor comes from having fun with the foibles of characters that have been established in 3 games (Apollo Justice isn't mentioned here). It would be just like when I tried to jump into volume 6 of Fruits Basket: I had no idea what was happening. But Ace Attorney fans who have a soft spot for Edgey (hey, ladies!) will not be able to help but dig this.

This hilarious manga is perfect for any fan of the Ace Attorney series. It offers snapshots into experiences of the game's characters that you don't get to see while playing the game. The game constantly references events from the games, so this is definitely not something that should be read by someone who hasn't played all of the games in the series. However, I can't imagine anyone who has played the games not loving this manga. It's a perfect supplement to a wonderful series of games.

A lovely collection of fan comics!,

It's interesting to see how Phoenix Wright has effected these various doujin artists. The styles range wildly, and that's what's so charming about it. Most are quick jokes, or monologues about Edgeworth's feelings, but a few are decent stories with familiar faces. If you miss the games, this is worth a read. I love it, but I think you have to love the games for it to be good.

I'm sad to rate this low,

This review may look a lot like my review of the Phoenix Wright Files. I basically have the same points about it:This is a collection of manga based of the Ace Attorney series. While that sentence may cause you to draw a few conclusions, don't let it. I'll get this out of the way first: none of this is created by those affiliated with the game, nor are the stories very intriguing or based on happenings in the series. The potential of the stories is limited by their lengths due to the amount contained in this book, so none are very developed. The stories being both fan-made and short, the stories only occasionally even relate to court or relationships between characters, and the storylines are of course quite simple. While one does feature some of the backstory of the SL-9 Incident, it is only one of the many short stories on here. Others are completely random, fun ideas by fans. That kind of humor is OK once in a while, but not for a whole book. I have nothing against the mangaka, but the idea of compiling all of this fan-made stuff into an official-looking volume comes to me as quite odd. The art, while by no means terrible at any point, is less professional and appealing. Only so much can fit into a 20-page manga story--if this were fan-made but were a full-length volume of one story, that would be much more satisfactory. If you want good new stories, read fanfiction online. If you want real manga based on this series, I'm afraid I can't help you.

I bought this for my son because he loves the video games. This is the second book from the series I have found and he seems to enjoy them.

Good Manga but Not What I Expected,

This review is from: Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: The Miles Edgeworth Files (Paperback)
This was an OK manga but the story is not at all canon (sp?) with the Phoenix Wright universe. Every chapter is also written and drawn by different mangakas so all of the artsyles are different. I was really hoping that it'd be done by one person (whoever drew the artwork on the cover) but unfortunately it didn't happen.Still worth a read if you're a Phoenix Wright fan.

Wasn't as good as I was anticipating...,
This review is from: Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: The Miles Edgeworth Files (Paperback)
If you've read my review on the Phoenix Wright Files, then you'd know I enjoyed it very much. And I was especially excited for this to come out, because Edgeworth is one of my BIG favorites.Putting it all together, it was alright. While reading it, I was just thinking: "Whoopee, Phoenix Wright cast, lots of Edgeworth, hooray." I wasn't nearly as hyped up as when I read the Phoenix Wright Files. A lot of the artwork was kind of disappointing, and there were only one or two stories I actually found funny. There was this on-running bear thing... Almost like some sort of slap-stick comedy. I don't know, it's probably because I'm such an Edgeworth-fangirl that I was kind of let down. Wasn't satisfied; sorry! If you want to see Edgeworth dancing with a bear, go ahead and purchase. (It's pretty ridiculous.)
