This is an excellent amp -- I picked it up in system form (during July, 2010) including the two S715 (15" woofers) two-way speakers -- all for only $399.99 with a discount coupon offer that was sent to me, so as you can imagine this was an amazing deal.

The Technical Specifications are simply:

For now, I'll jump right into a performance-and-usage review, detailing how the system was put to the test -- along with the overwhelming positive response of the audience and the staff. All right, strap yourself in, here we GO!

Recently, Saturday, June 4, 2011, just outside of Fort Benning, Georgia, in the small city of Columbus, I used the system for a special event involving a community organization celebrating its 50th anniversary. Featuring both outside and inside use of the Phonic system, along with a classic car show going on there too, plus live interviews of luminaries and celebrities, and, most of all, making announcements and playing music continuously, the Phonic 780 rocked the house in every respect.

I added a pair of tripod speaker stands from Amazon too, along with a set of superior-quality XLR cables, then gigged with my MXL 990 Condenser Microphone with Shockmount and an 18" adjustable microphone stand, along with two Shure SM58-S microphones (one on a swing-arm boom mic stand, the other on a typical stage mic stand) and a five-foot portable table with folding legs -- and a tall stool with back support -- along with a couple of chairs too. You know how it is.

The music was piped in to the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus mixer using my Dell desktop computer system along with my Toshiba Satellite laptop computer and a pair of 7.1 Channel USB External Sound Card Audio Adapters from Amazon as well, with output to the Powerpod 780 Plus.

From there I could spin the dials and adjust / mix / overlap / beat match / track everything going out to those monster 15" speakers while keeping an eye on my 1969 Buick Skylark Gran Sport -- GS by Buick -- with its recently added 455 Stage 1 engine and Muncie four-speed transmission.

The response to the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus overall, including my vocal talents, mixology, and more, was simply out of this world.

The reaction of the folks running the event, as well as numerous people in the crowd was fantastic and highly complimentary. Many technophiles examined all of the equipment closely and asked lots of questions -- mainly, everyone had a great time and a lot of them made numerous requests for songs.

Perhaps the best comments received throughout the event were requests to turn the volume DOWN, ha ha! Even though I never had it higher than about 50% of its maximum capacity, the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus performed flawlessly, surpassing expectations and displaying superior abilities in every respect.

After the show, a few of the event staff hung around with me to talk about the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus and my background as a professional announcer, as well as to discuss music and memories. One of them, Geoff P., is a well-known rock and roll band member from back in the day, we all talked and visited into the night, drank a beer or two, puffed on cigars, and really had a great time as the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus did its stuff.

We listened to Jimi Hendrix LIVE at the Monterey Pops Festival -- Like A Rolling Stone, then switched over to the Greatest Hits CD for Red House -- had to play that twice, and several Junior Brown cuts including Highway Patrol, Rock N Roll Medley, and of course my fave, Surf Medley.

Then we tried to stump each other with trivia about obscure songs, Billboard Bubbling Under The Top 100 titles, and local bands' local hits -- to everyone's astonishment, I queued up and played almost all of these -- all on the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus system (please help me to remember to load Crazy by Patsy Cline sometime soon . . . ).

Finally, with only myself and the building supervisor, Glenn Meyer, remaining, I cranked the volume up into the 90 - 95 percentile, woo-hoo! Awesome.

I packed the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus back into its bags and boxes, folded all the other equipment as needed, and put it in the back of the vehicle to head home . . . contemplating a neighborhood BLAST from my patio soon. It was a fun ride to Gardiner Drive here in Columbus, Georgia, thinking over the events of the day and the performance as well as sheer POWER of the Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus. Maybe the folks on the north side of Bull Creek will be hearing it soon! Woo-hoo! Yankees, go home!
