I am a teacher at a one-room school, and we use the Saxon Phonics Homeschool series. I am amazed at how early my students can start to read. My students can read small books and four to five letter words before Christmas! I would recommend this series to anyone interested in teaching their children to read! The Saxon Math is just as good!

This is our first year homeschooling our 5 year old boy. My son is interested in doing his work and is learning to read with ease. The lessons are not overwhelming for him or for me and I look forward to using Saxon Phonics with all our children. We esprcially love the review decks and the games that can be played.

I wish there was a placement test for phonics like there is for Saxon Math at the Saxon website. We started homeschooling with my son mid-way through his Kindergarten semester and have found this curriculum to be below his level of ability. However, it is a great introduction curriculum to expose our 3-year-old to. He can't do all of the curriculum (handwriting is a still a challenge for him) but he is quickly learning the sounds of his alphebet through these lessons.
