E Ink Technology
Electronic ink is a proprietary material that is processed into a film for integration into electronic displays, and used in many popular ebooks today. Revolutionary in concept, electronic ink is a fusion of chemistry, physics and electronics to create millions of tiny microcapsules about the diameter of a human hair. Each microcapsule contains positively charged white particles and negatively charged black particles suspended in a clear fluid that migrates with the application of an electric field to produce an ink-on-paper appearance.
To form an E Ink electronic display, the ink is printed onto a sheet of plastic film that is laminated to a layer of circuitry. The circuitry forms a pattern of pixels that can then be controlled by a display driver. These microcapsules are suspended in a liquid "carrier medium" allowing them to be printed using existing screen printing processes onto virtually any surface, including glass, plastic, fabric and even paper. Ultimately electronic ink will permit most any surface to become a display, bringing information out of the confines of traditional devices and into the world around us. This watch is super cool. It looks awesome either with the black background and white numbers or viceversa. The only thing missing is some kind of light or something to see the hour in the night.

To start out, let me say over all, I like this watch. Yes, its true its not like the photo that it shows, the black isnt that dark of a black and the white isnt that bright of a white. But its a pretty cool watch and people seem pretty intrested in it when they see it, its kind of like a "rolex" effect if you know what I mean. Unfortunately though it does leave the "lines" when the time changes, as in if the minutes change from a 2 to a 3 you can kind of see the lines from the 2 still there. The watch does sort of "refresh" every 15 minutes to try and keep that problem minimal. Now... make no mistake, it IS big, but after a while you get used to it and you forget you are even wearing it, so it is comfortable. But I'm just SO afraid Im going to scratch it so I find myself taking it off often so I dont scratch its large face. But then there is the issue of price, I would never pay over $100 for it... I was able to get it at an awesome price and I suggest you wait around until you find that amazing price too. When you get it, you understand... yes its cool, but $175? I dont think so.
CONS: - Not as bright of a display as shown in the photos. - Kind of expensive for what you get. - "Lines" left behind of the time that has elapsed. - Big face that could be easily scratched. PROS: - Ability to switch between a white background and a black one. - Cool, interesting, modern look. - Beeps at every hour. - Ultimate "at a glance" display. - Ability to switch between "analog" and "total digital" display. So over all, I say "Buy the watch!"... when you can get it at a good price that is. Its perfect for someone who wants to sort of "stand out" from all the other watches out there and, I could see it being the PERFECT gift for that someone who "has everything".

Grey is not Black,

I do not know if the unit I received was atypical but the nice sharp "Black" in the pictures was a very distinct Grey - not at all black. Not at all sharp looking like the photos. Very different than the pics
