This is an excellent review of the photoconductive decay measurement technique. This type of measurement is used to determine the minority carrier lifetime in a semiconductor and Ryvkin has certainly spent a great deal of time in the lab. This text along with that of J. W. Orton and P. Blood are necessary reading if you are interested in measuring minority carrier lifetime.
