About the Author
Frantisek Drtikol (1883-1961) studied at the Institute for Education and Research in Photography in Munich, and later worked as an assistant in the studios of several photographers in Germany, Switzerland, and Bohemia. In 1910, he opened a large photography studio in Prague with Augustin Skarda, a frequent collaborator for the next 11 years. Beginning in 1913, Drtikol participated in the London Salon of Photography annually, and in 1914, he was featured in an international exhibition marking the 75th anniversary of the invention of photography in Prague. In 1932, his work was included in the First International Salon of Photographic Nudes in Paris, along with Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Man Ray, George Platt-Lynes, and others.
