Squeeky Clean ...,

The Eclipse Cleaner System is a must buy. Quick and easy way to get your sensor and/or lenses clean. Needs to be used with lint free swabs which are included in the kit.

I use this cleaner on my Canon 20d (along with the swabs of the same brand) and it removes every single mote of dust. But be careful! I found out the hard way the cleaning solution will eat through finishes on furniture.
Here is a useful bit of information: it can be VERY difficult to clean your sensor enough so that dust doesn't show when you use WIDE angle lenses. Just be aware when you start testing your cleaning abilities by cycling through your lenses and you see dust spots with the wide angled ones you didn't hurt anything, it's just the nature of those lenses to show that stuff. The best way forward is to learn how to use the correction tools in Photoshop to fix the blotches when they appear.

Works well but....,

This cleaner works well for CCD sensors on my D200 but I realized that there is TIN oxide coating with the later generation CMOS sensors for D300 and Nikon D3 that might not be very compatible with this cleaner....hence I have not used this anymore. I am now using E2 for the newer generation nikon cameras.

I bought this cleaner to remove dirt from camera lenses, while obtaining a streak free finish with minimal rubbing. I believe the amount of rubbing required for purely mechanical removal of certain contaminants is more harmful than gentle removal using a good cleaner. I was running low on my supplies, so I read some reviews and bought the Eclipse with cleaning pads.
I conducted the test on a brand new B&W MRC polarizer that had gotten a finger print as well as some water stains after extended outdoor photography use. It had never been cleaned before. I found that the Eclipse solution would leave behind fairly substantial streaks that were hard to remove. I kept trying, and used several clean pads, but I was not able to remove the residue. The more solution I used, the more residue was left behind. In frustration I tried my previous choice, a 15 year old bottle of optical cleaning solution distributed by the German company Hama. I still used the Eclipse cleaning pads. Wow! All the previous dirt + the residue left by the Eclipse was gone in seconds. Amazing! Hama 1 - Eclipse 0. I suspect the Hama solution is acetone based, and therefore more effective. However, I did have greater expectations than this, and I will keep looking for more of the "good old stuff."

I bought this to supplement the smaller bottle that ships with the Eclipse digital survival kit. It actually fits perfectly inside the carrying case that comes with that kit. I little bit goes a very long way. This bottle will last a long time. Evaporates instantly and leaves no residue behind. Does a great job of cleaning my sensors and lenses. It is important to keep this stuff tightly sealed at all times and minimize the amount of time you have the bottle open. Methanol evaporates very quickly and is also extremely hydroscopic. Too much exposure to the air will contaminate the solution with moisture and ruin it. Keeping it stored in a dry, cool, and temperature stable area will ensure the maximum life of the this product.

I had, during a shoot this weekend, got a thumb print on my lens. I had in my bag a bottle of 'Canon' cleaning solution and a few Pec Pads. I don't know if I got a bad bottle but all it did was stay damp and then leave streaks and spots on my lens. We have NO camera shops in town and all Wal-Mart had was some LCD/Glass cleaner spray and a soft cloth. That made it worse and left a discolored film on my Lens. I ordered the Eclipse fluid from Amazon (through Adorama Camera) and all it took was 2 drops on a folded Pec Pad to leave the glass, clear and clean where I swiped. THAT right there is definitely worth $8 a bottle, considering I paid $7 for the crappy Wal-Mart kit.
I am planning to clean the Low-Pass Filter over the sensor of my 5D Mark II in the near future with this and Sensor Swabs. I will add to my news here when I do that step.

Good for cleaning sensors,

I use this stuff pretty much only for cleaning my camera sensor. It does the job well, even though I need to use it multiple times. That could just be because of dust in the camera, but its hard to tell. Overall, it does the job I need it to do, and it does it well.

I bought Eclipse optic cleaning system 2 year ago. The solution was quite good at cleaning the camera lenses. Because the bottle is rather large I used this solution for cleaning the camera lenses at home, and took a smaller bottle of another solution when I travel with my camera. I have not used this solution since last summer, and this weekend when I decided to clean all my lenses at home was surprised by finding the bottle empty. The cap was closed tightly, the bottle was stored upright in the draw so it would not leak. The solution just evaporated. I liked 1) The solution did a nice job cleaning dirty lenses I did not like 1) The bottle is large and it is not very convenient for taking on trips 2) The solution does not last a long time due to evaporation. Plan to use it within 1 year from purchase I am disappointed that the solution evaporated before I had a chance to use it enough to justify the cost. The smaller cheaper bottle I take with me when traveling lasted much longer. Ali Julia review

I've used cheaper cleaners that leave streaks and leave residue. This stuff is great and the bottle will last years. I searched out PecPads (available from Amazon) after reading about the combination a photo magazine and online. I'd recommend using Eclipse + PecPads. I've had mine for about 6 months now. Works great and they're worth the money.
