This Lady knows her stuff., January 3, 2005
This review is from: Photographing The Natural World (Paperback)
No matter how long you have been taking photographs, there is always something new to learn about equipment, techniques and style. I first picked up a serious camera over 30 years ago and, although published sporadically since that time, my work has now been published every single month for the past 6 years or so. Of course, my own natural history photography always takes second place to my underwater work, but on every front I am still learning.
Heather Angel is one of those people from whom any photographer can learn a great deal. Firstly, she is an acknowledged world-class photographer in her own right. Secondly, she has the ability to demonstrate her techniques - both in the written and illustrated form, so that even the newest recruit to photography can reach the same level of understanding and comprehension as those who are already more proficient.
In this book, Miss Angel explains the techniques of natural history photography which she understands so well and does so in such a way that I defy any natural history photographer to pick up this book and NOT learn something.
I first read the book over 12 months ago and then set out to put what I had learned into practise. Now, I have read the book again and am able to make those fine-tuning adjustments to what I have achieved so far.
Well worth the purchase price.
