5.0 out of 5 stars Well Put together
If you like Fashion Shots by Alex larg and Jane Wood you would enjoy this book. its a combination of Fashion shots and Photographing people (updated) One thing you may not like about this book is that they are several images that are the same in the previous book... So if you have Fashion Shots, Or Photographing People(old version) do not get this book. But if you did not...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacks full lighting information
Not a bad book. It gives you inspiration on what sort of photos you can shoot.

Most of the pro-photo shooters will use a light meter to control the light source, however the light meter information is not provided. This is the biggest omission in the book since you cannot correlate lighting information to a particular effects you looking for. It will be nice...

So if you have Fashion Shots, Or Photographing People(old version) do not get this book. But if you did not purchase one out of the two... then its worth your money. Excellent diagrams and a good source of tool for photographers

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacks full lighting information, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Photographing People: Portraits, Fashion, Glamour (Paperback)
Not a bad book. It gives you inspiration on what sort of photos you can shoot.

Most of the pro-photo shooters will use a light meter to control the light source, however the light meter information is not provided. This is the biggest omission in the book since you cannot correlate lighting information to a particular effects you looking for. It will be nice to add something like group A, 1/250, F9.5 @ ISO100, group B, 1/250 F8 @ ISO100 and camera 1/250 F11 ISO100.

I guess the most important thing is the lighting diagram and the pictorial themselves. However, the book is mainly on confined studio shots and lacks outdoor shots as well.

Very best instructive book, geared towards the more advanced photographers, nonetheless very useful in defining possibilities of lighting setup. I recommend it for intermediate and advanced professional.

Product was definitely in the condition I ordered and I am pleased with my purchase and tracking info provided. Beyond the purchase it was also an excellent buy on how to setup your home studio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book, October 2, 2009

The images are great, with many talented photographers having submitted solid work, this is not just one guy or studio giving one vision of portraiture. And the accompanying shoot diagrams are detailed enough to give any photographer the information to try and reconstruct the lighting -- and then experiment from there. A great learning tool in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, November 13, 2007
This review is from: Photographing People: Portraits, Fashion, Glamour (Paperback)
This book does a great job of giving a really clear graphical overview of the lighting setups of each photo in the book. My biggest hangup was that some of the pictures have no lighting setups at all or are setups with only an on camera flash, etc. Obviously it's nice to know how different looks are achieved, and in a way it's nice to have a reference that you might consider, "how not to take a photograph", I guess I was expecting to see more conventional pro photography. (examples: the Strange Trinity photo, Orange Trousers photo, etc.)

This review is from: Photographing People: Portraits, Fashion, Glamour (Paperback)
This book is such a great way to find out how to shoot a wide variety of incredible portraits, with easy-to-understand diagrams and the equipment used listed. Gerat book to add to any portrait photographer's bag of tricks.

I am delighted with the purchase of this book. It is more of a picture book with a photo outline of how each photo was created. It basically shows you how to set up the lights, background and camera for the effect you might desire. The great part about this book is that it can give one ideas how to improve portraits. I highly recommend this book as a good addition for your photo library.

This is a good book, definitely not for beginners, and some of the setups shown are ridiculously overimplemented.
