5.0 out of 5 stars a cd for the whole day, February 21, 2003
By Jimmy L (Linden, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
Labeled as a Christian band. Close but not too close..More like a band that is full of Christians. Its just about life. Every day, getting up, making decisions ( right and wrong), and trying to find where your place is in this world. I loved every song on this CD. Fun to sing with and even some hit close to home..Great lyrics and catchy melodies...songs are about losing friends and meeting new ones...one of the best cds out in awhile.Get it, you wont be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bland Dutchmen, May 12, 2006
Now, I won't go as far as saying Photographs & Tidalwaves is a terrible album. But plain and simple, it's boring. I would hardly compare Holland to The Elms (as far as musical talent goes). Also, I really see very LITTLE emotion in the singer's voice. No real range. No depth. Not BAD mind you- just not GOOD. Also lyrics are less than powerful, and guitar, drums and keys are forgettable at best. Don't waste your money. Buy The Elms "The Big Surprise" and just skip the first track, or get "Interventions & Lullabies" by The Format and enjoy every moment of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good CD, August 27, 2004
By Smithy1185 (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
I first heard about Holland from a video for Shine Like Stars on tv. I thought the song seemed catchy so I decided to get this cd. I personally think its very good stuff for pop/rock despite about 2 or 3 songs that I normally skip, all the rest are very good. I mean it isn't anything groundbreaking but instead is relaxing and enjoyable for when you're in a more quiet mood. Overall I would recommend this to pretty much everyone. Go out and support this band!

1.0 out of 5 stars Unoriginal garbage.
I saw Holland open a while back and decided to check them out. Their music is frankly too boring to make it, and I strongly advise that you heed my more sober review of this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive Power Pop
Much like The Elms, Holland produces shimmering guitar-based power pop with gorgeous harmonies, upbeat melodies and introspective faith-filled lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars holland review
This is a great cd from a very tight group. They write all their own stuff and the lyrics/music travel new roads. This band will blend concept with reality. Great stuff!
