Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

The filter really helps to reduce glare and add contrast.

The magnetic ring attached to the camera also works for their threaded filter adapter as well.

The filter quality seems to be decent, certainly more than adequate for a P+S camera.

The polarizer glass in this filter is questionable quality and can cause distortion or glare. Do yourself a favor and get the threaded version of this product for $30 directly from Carry Speed. Then you can screw in your own high quality filters. With the threaded version, you are not limited to polarizer filters. ND filters are very useful, especially for video. You can also mount hoods, which are very useful in many situations.

The filter was great until the glue that holds the magnet on got too warm from being in my bag in the sun at the park. The magnetic ring slid off center, and it bent when I tried to put it back in place. There is no way to get it perfectly flat again, and now it's unusable. I'm afraid to use a chemical on the thick, gummy residue, so there's that issue. I haven't contacted the company for replacement, so I can't review their customer service.

For the 42mm MagFilter, the metal ring that adheres to the front of the lens barrel has an outside diameter of 37mm and an internal diameter of 32mm. This may help you decide whether it will work with your camera.

Purchased this for my Sony DSC-RX100 20.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor Digital Camera with 3.6x Zoom for use outdoors.

It doesn't impact the size of the camera when off (the thin metal band is hardly noticeable) and when the filter is on, it is secure and does the job.

This isn't as good as high quality muli-coated glass, but isn't that bad as well. It's a bit reflective and can cause some issues with direct light, but again, for this camera and the cost it is a great solution.

It looks like their manufacturing process screwed up the coating process with irregular patches off a coating that will not come off. Totally unusable. I am returning it and getting another in the hopes of getting one of a good quality because i like the mag concept. I will update the review when i get the new filter

This is a great polarizer, got this for use on my RX100. The first few days I was shooting "double" pictures (one with, one without) so I could compare side by side. In almost all pictures it made a positive difference. After that I really didn't take it off at all until the sun was pretty much set for the day. Never had it accidentally fall off, the magnet feature worked flawlessly. Would recommend.

I am using this filter on a Sony RX100 II and also installed one on my sister's RX100. This kit comes with the magnetic filter itself, two self adhesive metal rings to install onto the front of your camera lens, and a handy carrying pouch.

You install the metal rings by peeling off the wax paper backing and exposing the adhesive side already applied to the ring. The kit gives no assistance or tools to help apply the ring on center, you just have to eyeball it. The adhesive is very sticky and does not seem like it will come off easily so try to get it right the first time. The filter itself is larger than the lens opening on this camera, so if it is off-center a bit, it probably will not affect the image, but if you are picky like me, you won't want to have a wacky off-center filter on your camera.

Once the ring is installed onto the lens, you just move the filter close to it and the magnets will click and hold on. I was concerned about how well the magnets would hold, but one time I forgot that the filter was on and stuck the camera out the window of a moving car at freeway speeds and the magnets held it on fine. I just returned from A three week trip during which I was using the filter frequently and never had a problem with the filter falling off due to "natural causes" such as gravity, wind, etc. However, I did end up dropping the filter twice due to accidents like my hand brushing across the edge of the filter which moving my arm to pick something up. Luckily, the glass did not break and I only ended up with some cosmetic dings on the edge of the filter.

The carrying case is pretty nifty. It is a pouch made out of neoprene with a slit on one side that can be covered with a flap to hold the filter in.

Product does what it says. Turning the glass is not as smooth as I expected, but nothing to be annoyed about. It's magnetic afrerall, and not a free turning filter.

I purchased the CarrySpeed Magfilter from Photosmart. Excellent seller. The initial item they sent was slightly damaged (magnetic ring was bent), and when I contacted them for a replacement part, they promptly sent me a replacement set. No issues whatsoever, will certainly buy from these guys again.
