This publication will get you started in photomicrography and give you a good
foundation to reference when you are selecting films for your micrographs. It
may be a little intense for the casual hobbiest but still contains many
illustrations and good information on setting up a microscope to take pictures.

With the advent of digital cameras that flood the market, we tend to forget the basics of photography. This Kodak book keeps me aware of the vagaries of film cameras in my arsenal, and leads me to the methods/equipment of using a camera (any media type)to the world through the microscope. Techniques that can be easily applied to digital photography are here for the photographer who is not too lazy to make some adjustments.

Tis publication is a very fine discussion of microscope optics, and the use of the microscope, as well as on photography through the microscope. The section on polarized light, while brief, is very good.

J.G. Delly is the leading micro-photography expert of our day. While new chapters are badly needed with respect to modern microscopy, anyone interested in the basis of photography and the microscope will find loads of useful and critical information in these pages. The book is essential reading for anyone who desires to improve their photographic technique by attaining a deep understanding of the principles underlying light, photography, and the microscope. Delly's explanation of Kohler illumination, for example, is something I use everyday, and his explanation of various techniques to improve color and clarity are priceless. Delly imparts insight, experience, and scientific knowledge in clear English that is as accessible to a layperson as to a leading scientist. In short, this work is a masterpiece that every serious microscopist should have in their collection.

I brought this book to learn more about taking pictures through a microscope. I am using digital equipment. This book was published in the 80's when todays technology was not around, so it was not helpful in that respect. It does have some useful information on how microscopes work and the importance of various aspects of photo microscopy.
