This review is from: Photoshop CS3 Prepress Essentials (CD-ROM)
I have been so disappointed with these lessons. I went through 4 lengthy chapters, almost nodding off, while he re-states concepts which are base to any casual photoshop user. Then all of the sudden, starting in lessons 5-6, the author has some coffee, and he's off like a shot. We're covering advanced topics at high-speed, and assuming the reader has full knowledge of new features in Illustrator, and intimate knowledge of the interoperability between those two applications, not to mention introducing new terms to a person more intimate with web development in previous versions of the Adobe CS Suite, than an up-to-date knowledge of photography, printing, and pre-press techniques. As an instructor and developer, I would have rather seen a more thoroughly well laid out plan, and would have edited some of the more long-winded talks on how to repeatedly press keys to access tools (creating and accessing keyboard shortcuts), or how to browse images using Adobe Bridge, in favor of creating a comprehensive glossary of pre-press specific terms, and making a supplement, or forum for advanced concepts and troubleshooting issues for other related applications which were glossed over.
