I picked up this book to help with the new photoshop elements 8 for mac os x since i've only used the program once and really didn't get the hang of it. It shows how to do things exactly for the mac which helps since i'm also new to the mac system. they compare the iphoto and bridge elements and how to use them effectively. it's a very nice color visual instruction and easy to learn. i have their html quick start guide and that was also wonderful. the back cover shows that it is for beginners and intermediate levels and i would suggest looking at the preview of the chapters to see if its right for you.

If you are a first time Photoshop user like me this book is essential, especially with screen shots on every page . . . a quick read of the Basics and I was ready to start some projects . . . I purchased Elements 8 primarily for the new Smart Brush tool so I can easily replace unwanted colors in Fractal images I like to create, the chapter on that feature as with all the chapters showed me exactly how to do what I wanted and it only took 2 minutes of trial and error to get the selected areas and colors the way I wanted them . . . and after browsing through all the other chapters I was amazed at all the features in Elements 8 and I was inspired with all kinds of ideas for future projects modifying old photos and things I will be scanning . . . this book will make all that easy . . . I did not bother going to a book store and comparing this with all the other similar books, for less than $ 20 I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did.

Step by step information, help me understand how to work on my Family photo album using iphoto.

This is a thorough, well-illustrated guide to Photoshop Elements 8. It was very helpful to me to learn the product and use many of its advanced features.

Nice manual with color photos of the screens. I understand that Photoshop could be very complicated, BUT,in its eagerness to make this an abridged version the author skipped a few steps to achieve the intended result in several of the chapters. Therefore,it has been quite frustrating trying to follow the instructions in the book. I finally put it away and went to the Mac store begging for help. The instructors showed me how to do what I was trying to do following the manual, but in fewer steps. By reading the manual from cover to cover, I got an understanding of what I can do with the software, and have more concrete questions to ask to the teenage "geniouses" at the Mac store.

The guide is quick, easy to follow, and answers most common Photoshop questions that beginners would ask. It is a time saver. Because it is concise, I prefer it to the Dummy books that take three paragraphs to say the same thing this guide says in three sentences. I use this a lot to learn ways to alter photos for maximum visual appeal when scrapbooking.

I just received this book last week. I've some experience with Photoshop 6 for Macs, but am far from being an expert. I'd hoped that working with this book would help me develop greater expertise. So far its lightweight overview content hasn't provided much help to me. Some of the "how to" instructions seem to be incorrect.
