Photoshop Elements Solutions,
By Charles Peterson (Paraparaumu Beach New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
WELL WORTH WAITING FOR -November 19,2001Chuck Peterson from New Zealand After buying the first book printed on Photoshop Elements (Introductions). I reviewed it in Oct./2001 with my disappointment that it was a B&W illustrated and hard to see what the author was trying to show . What a difference color and good print quality makes. This book has it all with good color illustrations and easy to understand text. After downloading a free 30 day trial of Photoshop Elements then buying the software - the CD included is of little use and I prefer to use my own photos to change and correct or create what I want . After 40+ years working in a darkroom trying to be creative. this book makes it all so easy ( with the lights on and NO smelly chemicals)

It's a Photoshop Elements Textbook!,
By Stevarn (Burbank, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
This book stands head and shoulders above the other Photoshop Elements books I've looked at. Actually I've bought several Photoshop Elements books at my local Borders and Barns and Noble bookstores on Photoshop Elements and returned all of them. I also purchased my copy of this book locally for $... before I realized that I could have gotten it for much less at Amazon. Oh well. This is the last Photoshop Elements book you will ever need. What sets this book apart from the others is that there are symbols accompanying the text that correspond with the symbols you see on the screen! You simply read the paragraph and click on the symbol that is illustrated in the book. This makes it much easier to learn and remember the program. I'm glad I bought this book at $..., but at Amazon's price, it's a steal.

Photoshop Elements Solutions,

This is a great book for the nonprofessional who wants to do serious image editing on family photos, etc. It . The Adobe manual that comes with the program is one of the best from a software producer in that it explains the various features of the program quite well. Photoshop Elements Solutions picksup where Adobe's instruction manual leaves off in that it shows you how to combine the features sequentially to get to a great end product.

Photoshop Elements 2 Solutions,

This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
As a recent convert to digital photography I came across Photoshop Elements software and began experimenting with it on my computer. It was fascinating but I only used a few of its features - although realizing there were many more available. My attempts to understand the more complex functions like the use of layers got bogged down in the detailed explanations within the program and in the users guide. While they were sufficiently detailed to explain how each feature worked individually, they never put them into a usable context. After seeing a recommendation for Photoshop Elements 2 Solutions, I bought Mikkel Aalands' book. It is a revelation. I feel I have gone from a rank amateur to a serious user after only a short time following the book's clear explanations and vivid examples. What this book does not do is explain every feature within the program. What it does do exceedingly well is provide practical examples of how to accomplish specific tasks that require you to group a number of features together and tells you step by step how to do so. It is helped immeasurably by an enclosed CD that enables you to follow the book's instructions and perform the steps yourself on your computer. Layers and a lot of other functions are now easy for me to understand and use. Disappointing pictures I have taken are now being transformed into really nice photographs. Equally important it gives you the fundamental basis and the motivation to further explore how to use the program. The book is written for both Photoshop Elements Versions 1 and 2. It helpfully explains where they differ. I highly recommend this for users of the Photoshop Elements program and believe it will benefit newcomers to digital editing as well as experienced users.

Finally I can use an Adobe graphics program,
By
This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
My new Sony notebook came with Elements, and I decided to jump in after years of using Paint Shop Pro and being scared of Photoshop. It didn't take long to realize I was clueless. Got this book and was very surprised -- not only did I learn how to make sense of Elements, but the writer is pretty funny. While I had no pressing need to change people's hair color or replace children with other kids, it made learning the program much more amusing. Am now working on hundreds of digital pictures from my wedding.I also was disappointed that not all the example photos were on the CD. I sent an e-mail to the publisher about this and they directed me to a bunch more example images on their Web site...

A cut above,

This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
As an experienced technical writer, I've become able to tell the difference between a how-to book that is more or less parroting the software features and one that crawls inside the program and shows what is really going on and why it matters to the user. This book is in the latter category. It may not be suitable as a reference (I await Peachpit's VQS for that), but it should be invaluable for any digital shutterbug who wants to get the most out of a bundled copy of Elements.By the way, for those who want more of the example image files than are provided on the CD, look [at their website].

Super Book,

This is the best. If you are serious buy this book. I have only worked my way through the first three chapters and it already worth the price. Highly recommend. The only criticism is the CD included which has the full 30 day demo version of Elements. Most people will not need this. The pictures used as examples will be usefull.

A great introduction into digital photography,

Wow!I always heard Photoshop was impossible to learn. After reading this book, I wondered why I wasted all my time with those other dumbed-down, useless software programs. This book will help you make the jump into digital photography...with no pain.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
I found this book to be extremely helpful to those of us who are not graphics oriented. It explains in easily understood detail things needed to get you up and running with Adobe Elements. Now it is not for the novice user. It will require some knowledge of your computer before undertaking this program. Still I have found it a worth while companion to the digital camera and software I use today. Easy to understand and great for casual users too. A must even if you have the ÒFor DummiesÒ book (which I have and purchased this one as a companion and use it more than the other.

Personal Touch,
By Jim Grove (Washington, DC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Photoshop Elements Solutions (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
Aaland's personal touch and writing style helped me work through the examples and relate it to my own pictures. His examples showed me that this product can actually be used by regular joes like me using my consumer digital camera and I that I don't need a pro set up to make my images look good. I know that my family will enjoy my pictures more after going through this book.I highly recommend this book if you want to make great digital images. |
