5.0 out of 5 stars strong manual
This book demonstrates some excellent techniques and methods for texturing work. It is one of only 3 or 4 I know of on the market concerning this type of work. It is written for a beginner in many ways, but there is also alot of advanced techniques that are very valuable to someone with some texturing experience. The way I see it, any book that makes you stronger at...

1.0 out of 5 stars AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
This book is a waste of money, pure and simple. All of the topics covered in the book are totally obvious and repetitive. Not to mention the book is extremely hard to follow and poorly written. He tries to write in a "hip to the kids" street slang, which is incredibly annoying. Basically, if you know how to bevel and emboss, you don't need this book. Buy a regular...

He tries to write in a "hip to the kids" street slang, which is incredibly annoying. Basically, if you know how to bevel and emboss, you don't need this book. Buy a regular photoshop book and the principles in this book will already be obvious to you.

This book demonstrates some excellent techniques and methods for texturing work. It is one of only 3 or 4 I know of on the market concerning this type of work. It is written for a beginner in many ways, but there is also alot of advanced techniques that are very valuable to someone with some texturing experience. The way I see it, any book that makes you stronger at texturing than you were before reading it, should be granted 5 stars. It made me better than I was before reading it so I give it a high mark. Also fairly unique to this book is that fact that it is written by a girl, whereas the other 3-4 out there are male efforts. This allows the reader to add to their methods a good strong female approach to how things can be done, which I had not had prior to reading this book. Most of the tutorials are pretty strong and cover a wide range of lesser known features that can make a big difference in your work. Bottom line, if you want to get good at texturing quickly and fairly cheaply (under $100), read this book and one of David Franson's like Dark side of texturing. Between the two, you should get the hang of it.
