Very good step by step guiding,

This book gives the complete step by step guide how to make special type effect with Photoshop.This book also gives an alternate way to make the effect. This book helps me understand the procedure of how Photoshop makes the effect. But this book doesn't gives you the thumb of rule of the effect. It will confused you if you want to make different from the book said (eq. the different font size needs different amount of blur). The answer is you have to practice & practice. But the bottom line is, this book gives very good guide to type effect with Photoshop.

Useful book for making "recipe" typefaces. A bit on the expensive side though.
