4.0 out of 5 stars Tips to increase your Photoshop productivity
This book is really different from any other Photoshop book I've come across. Many Photoshop books seem bent on illustrating every feature the software provides. This can be a bit intimidating for beginning Photoshop enthusiasts, who still have trouble navigating the software. I bought this book because I thought it would help me with workflow. But that was before Lightroom was released. This book is not a good introduction to Photoshop and not so great for workflow either. The Eddie Tapp color management book is useful, but I can't say the same for this one. There are many better Photoshop books, and with Lightroom the workflow is spelled out...

This book is really different from any other Photoshop book I've come across. Many Photoshop books seem bent on illustrating every feature the software provides. This can be a bit intimidating for beginning Photoshop enthusiasts, who still have trouble navigating the software. This book simply aims to help the reader organize the Photoshop environment in a way that makes it easy to perform the work of digital enhancement.

The author begins by helping the reader get the Photoshop environment set up in a useable fashion. The author discusses techniques for organizing the many menus and palettes that Photoshop shows by default. The author then proceeds into a really good discussion of some of the more important palettes in Photoshop (including layer, color, and brushes palettes). The author then shows how to customize certain preferences, so that you are not forced to change them every time you open Photoshop. He then shows how to customize some of the menus and keyboard shortcuts. Finally, with the environment set up just so, the author illustrates how to use a couple of Photoshop's most famous tools (including selection and methodical tools).

If you find yourself working often with Photoshop, then I would highly recommend taking a look at this book. The author identified several things that will likely make my Photoshop experiences more productive. Armed with the knowledge this book provides, the reader will find their Photoshop sessions more enjoyable and more worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars SMILE! YOU'RE ON PHOTOSHOP!!, September 28, 2006
This review is from: Photoshop Workflow Setups: Eddie Tapp on Digital Photography (Paperback)
Are you having a problem with digital imaging and processing problems? If you are, then this book is for you! Author Eddie Tapp, has done an outstanding job of writing a book that shows you step-by-step digital imaging and processing production techniques that are easy to understand

Tapp, begins by covering how to set up the general Photoshop workspace. Then, the author shows you some of the key options, preferences, and fly-out menu features of key palettes. Next, he looks at setting preferences that he's found to be most important. The author continues by showing you how you can adapt Photoshop to your way of thinking. He also shows you how to manage images and files between all Adobe applications. Finally, the author looks at some powerful tools in Photoshop, what they do, and how you can establish options for a more productive workflow.

This most excellent book presents the key areas of Photoshop that you can configure for an efficient, visually uncluttered workspace. More importantly, the author not only shows you how Photoshop features work, but how they should work for you and your specific needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for beginners and experienced users, February 15, 2007

I recommend this book for anyone who does Photoshop. If you're a beginner, start with this book. It explains in detail what things are and how they work. Then, moves on to tell you how to customize just for you and how you work.
It is also a great reference book as you try new things.

4.0 out of 5 stars If your struggling for way to get photoshop CSx setup, February 26, 2008

This review is from: Photoshop Workflow Setups: Eddie Tapp on Digital Photography (Paperback)
Eddie Tapp is a very succesfull photographer and what he offers here basically is how he setup his photoshop to work on photos. Sometimes developing an effecient workflow can be difficult, and what this book does is basically give you how his is setup. Does that mean its the best way or the only way? No but it is a way that works and even if you have your own workflow going, you might find some tips in here to help tweak it or make it more effecient. Its is not however a book to teach you photoshop from beginning to finish. it just introduces you to concepts that you will use in processing a photo.

5.0 out of 5 stars The emphasis on streamlining Photoshop's many options will please photographers, November 4, 2006
This review is from: Photoshop Workflow Setups: Eddie Tapp on Digital Photography (Paperback)
Eddie Tapp's PHOTOSHOP WORKFLOW SETUPS offers all the basics on how to customize Photoshop for digital photography, using its powerful features to not only manipulate photo quality, but to customize the program itself. From creating keyboard shortcuts and menus to work smarter to managing workflow with Adobe Bridge and understanding Photoshop's palettes, the emphasis on streamlining Photoshop's many options will please photographers who have seen multitudes of books on using the program, but little on how to use it more efficiently.
